Really disheartened make me laugh!

Awww Dont be disheartened Fifty...its nothing wrong with you...in a lot of interview situations they have already chosen the candidate before they advertise the friggin job, Some of the companies I work with do this...it really takes the piss.

What made them respond by saying 'you are not a Team Player' its prob as a result of some sort of Amatuer Psychology on their part as a result of maybe saying 'Na Dont like Football'

I cant remember the last time I had an interview (well a proper one) I just get to meet my employers for a coffee at worst and a chat...and theres no bollox involved, normally havent got time to hold a full interview...which is just as well coz I'd put my foot in it he he.

Personality is the most important thing in any Interview..I find.

:)

Any way Cheer up bud..as Sheena says...the RIGHT job will be along with NICE people...you deserve better!

Do you subscribe to the Cornwall Online job service? I know there's not a lot about in your area at the moment, but they are quite good. You can register your CV and make it available to all employers etc. I expect you already have the information, but thought I would mention it.

I registered with them about 2 years ago, and I'm still waiting for THE job that means I can go home... :(

Good luck - don't give up, just keep coming here for some TLC and sympathy

(Oh, and buy a Euromillions lottery ticket on Friday, it's a £16million rollover!)

:(

I am getting really worn down; its now 1 year since the tribunal and some 15 months since I worked.

30 years in bloody management and now I cant see the way forward at all

Is there anyone here who can offer anything for me

50

Oh my God!!! Your not the only one feeling like that. Last wage Apr04 last got up for work Jan04.

Ok so I didn't start looking for a job until Aug last year but I didn't think it would be this hard to find a job. All I can say to those in long term employment, stay there, unless you've got a confirmed offer of new employment.

I am registered with 100+ agencies and 50+ search engines supplying me with over 40 odd potential jobs per day to look at. I had to put it all into a spreadsheet to keep a track of the jobs I've applied for.

I to think I have a good CV but its not getting me any interviews, "sorry wrong background" or "not enough experience" They (recruiters) must be joking!!

Sakura - yeah m8 already with them; not much going on there though :tumble:

Les

Hope you find something new m8. It is frustrating in the extreme isnt it?

I am going to go self employed next week Ill earn as much as I can making PCs; etc but wont be enough in the long run. Although I have to try to be good about this I get really pissed off by the fact there is no support whatsoever for us. The state provides a big fat 00000000. Oh well at least the house gets done up lol

Its even more fustrasting when you find out one of your recruting agents gets a new job. It was like "up your mate, i've got a new job"

My local landlord's wife wants some playhouses built in thier garden, basically 3 large shed, so I said I'd do it. At least I won't be bored next week, unless it rains. Haven't got a clue what to charge.

Anyway as thw wife sayes 'somink will turn up' Good luck mate.

Hi 50

Have you tried http://www.jobsite.co.uk? Worked for me. I uploaded my CV, had 2 calls the next day resulting in 2 interviews the next week and was lucky enough to get the contract with the 1st, so took it. I did a quick search for IT Consultant in Cornwall (just to check they covered your area) & came up with 7 results.

Hope this helps and don't worry; the right job will come along, but you've got to keep looking for it. :rtfm: Good luck!

Lez - good luck with the building contract

Holly, yep already registered with them.

IT is difficult cos as I said I am not yet qualified; exams in Sept. Ideally I could do with a training post. My main career has been in Food Production Mgt as I am actually a Food Chemist.

The search will go on....

I think I saw one at Focus the otherweek for about £130? - Fairly low quality though as I've seen them go for way more than that!

:swear:

China - you have me mixed up with Paul E?? actually being NOT :gayfight: coulkd be one of the reasons I cant get work

Holly - there are very few positions in manufacturing in this area, for the few that there are competition is fierce. I am prepared to work away but cant relocate just now as my son is doing his A levels this summer. My wife also has a good job. Just getting past the "recruitment consultants" is difficult and my age is also not a plus point :(

For what it's worth Christian & I will look out for training opportunities for you, (fortunately, we are both in contract at present, but with 2 hour journeys each way) :( . (BTW, please don't think this a silly question, but you don't put your age / DOB on your CV? I took mine off; they can work it out from your qualifications if they ever read past page 1!!). In the meantime, best of luck with your search, 50.

Thanks for the link m8.

Well this is developing a bit.

The guy that was given the job is in fact an X colleague with little or no management experience. I am now suspicious because as part of my court settlement "top notch" references were agreed upon. I am now beginning to think the Company was approached for them but didnt play ball as per this legal agreement.

I have EMailed the employer to find out what went wrong. If they confirm this WAS the case Ill be suing again for breach.

The guy who engineered my dismissal is a total arse and he once said to me he would fix it so anyone who sued them would never work again - nice eh??50
