Carl_S
Ask an Egyptian sage: Are you an Egyptian sage? Yes I sage. Did the Ice age go over the primids? No I sage There was no Ice age? No I sage, you english. Cheesy I know. But in my opinion, and everyone has one, is that the ice age was before the pyramids, and yeah, it it went over what is now egypt. Closes the stargate. Soop Dogg
thank you all. Much appreciate. NEXT QUESTION,.... Was the pyramid covering in sandstone, Limestone or marble? Not sure what you mean by 'pyramid covering'. The rocks that made up the pyramids themselves were made from agglomerated limestone. Basically they are cast concrete. (Believe it or not!) clarky666
If the ice age did get them then they wouldn't be left standing surely ? Force of the plateaus and the glaciers would have lifted the pyramids with them when they forced past and on top of that the freezing of the pyramids - particularly on limestone - would have left them in a big pile of dissasembled rubble once they had thawed the stone would have expanded and cracked under the pressure built up by the ice freezing into the gaps ? Soop Dogg
Limestone I didn't realise they had a covering. However, I think you'll see it says 'Limestone Casting' i.e. The limestone (pieces of) was mixed with other stuff to make the smooth covering which was an early form of concrete. We still use limestone in modern day concrete. So the pyramids were really an early concrete jungle. A bit like the original design of Milton Keynes, really. Carl_S
I think it was limestone. Been about 24 years ago that I last looked into this. I think the top bit was covered in gold leaf or something. Or was that Stargate. I'm going to ask my mummy.
