SupraStar 3000
or specifically, has sea, ice and snow ever cover the Egyptian pyramids. I say no.
Robert
yeah i would say it has, the continents were in very different locations a long time ago, so technically where Egypt is now may not have been where it was during the ice age. Do you mean the pyramids specially or Egypt in general? Pyramids i would have thought not
Lbm
Not to my knowledge. Wasn't the last ice age approx 10,000 years ago, yet the pyramids are quite a few thousand years younger?
SupraStar 3000
google tells me,.. Last ice age ended about 9,600 - 9,700 BC The first pyramid was the Step Pyramid at Saqqara, built for King Zoser in 2,750 BC.

garethr
I think the Giza pyramids were built about 4,500 years ago, and the last ice age ended around 12,000 years ago. IIRC the ice sheet stopped at the M4

Scott
Surely you answered your own question? If the last ice age was almost 10000 years ago and the pyramids were built almost 8000 years later then the answer is no?
michael
If you put a pyramid on an ice age would it take off?

See if they freeze over and then decide if they would have been able to withstand the big freeze. (btw yes - but have been away).
SupraStar 3000
See if they freeze over and then decide if they would have been able to withstand the big freeze. I would imagine so. AndrewOW
I was at a pub quiz this evening in pub in Eastbourne, and two of an opposing team were Ruth Madoc and that Max bloke formerly from Brookside. Surreal, and ever slightly random you must agree. As for the ice age and the pyramids, the former pre dates the latter by quite a few thousand years, but being specific, the ice sheet only made it to about the Midlands. A definite north/south divide!
