simonsupra
rgiht these original gatso jobbies not the forward facing ones wih the red lenses or the average speed cameras but the 'good' ole fashion gatso..... the ones that flash twice, i was flashed by one today but i was driving todwards it and it was on the other side of the road it flashed facing towards me when my drivers windoe was almost inline with the camera..... so to cap it of it wasnt pointing in my direction of travel!!!! will i get a ticket? Lbm
My view is that Gatsos "do you" from the back. Not the front. Edit: Just found this "Will I? Won't I?" get nicked thread. It's a thrilling read. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=496836
Fitz
If there are no lines on the floor then you won't as they cannot judge your speed over distance. The reason it flashed was because your car set off the sensor due to speed at the time. I wouldn't worry
ivan
If you are travelling towards an old style Gatso and it flashes you won't get a ticket even if there are white lines on your side of the road. (The white lines are there to catch the clever bu66ers who would otherwise cross to the other side of the road to escape the camera.) hogmaw
You will be ok. There are plenty dumb folk who slow down for gatsos facing towards them. It's a just a camera and it's easy to see which way they are pointing.
erol_h
I've been flashed whilst on the lines whilst the camera was facing the rear of my van but the car on the opposite side of the road set it off speeding and its happend a few times and nothing happend. You wount be botherd if it was facing the front of your car.
Kirk
speaking of speed cameras ive noticed the sudden explosion of them on the m60 between ashton and middleton! with a bit of luck there not permanent but by god its annoying, there every few hundreds yards!! TopgunTT
I attented a speed safety course after i got flashed for speeding in bristol, And apparantly none of the cameras in somerset flash in front of you only behind. Doesn't help you much living up there i know.
rick001
If you are travelling towards an old style Gatso and it flashes you won't get a ticket even if there are white lines on your side of the road. (The white lines are there to catch the clever bu66ers who would otherwise cross to the other side of the road to escape the camera.) Is this really the case? as i got flashed by one from the opposite side although there was another car on the opposite side but i assumed he was passed it - my side did have the white lines
scotty71
correct, if its on the other side facing you , you have no issues if its one of the single camera Gatso's like this

Dave
the lines on the other side of the road are for people who over take not for cars travelling toward the camera
Josh
No way can it get you, you're level with it by the time it flashes so it's too late
