hadyn
Removed my HKS SSQV today and I have decided to run with no BOV, I used the following procedure and I just need to know its OK. Both outlets in the turbo pipes are blocked up and I've also blocked the top thin vacuum pipe with a screw - is this OK?? Secondly, I've got a Blitz SUS air filter on mine at the moment and running no BOV, I cant hear any chatter whilst moving, the only noise I can hear is a quiet zip pssscht just like a vent to atmosphere BOV????? Does that round right to you?
Scott
Yup thats exactly what mine was like. As for the vacuum pipe, do you have a boost gauge? If so there might be a t-piece, you could take that out instead.
hadyn
Yep I'm running a boost gauge - are you saying I can block off the feed from the join to the boost gauge?
Scott
Yep I'm running a boost gauge - are you saying I can block off the feed from the join to the boost gauge? No, you will have a t-piece splitting the vac line to the boost gauge and the BOV. Take out the t-piece and just leave the line going direct to the boost gauge. hadyn
Just for reference heres a pic which shows the pipes that need bunging up with the BOV removed:
Scott
Do you have a boost gauge? IF you do... Disconnect the one with the screw in it from the metal pipe Follow metal pipe to the rear of the engine and you will notice a vac line (i think this is connected to the manifold via a t-piece?) If your boost gauge is on the same T-Piece, remove the T-Piece and connect the boost gauge directly into the manifold. Bobs your auntie's cousin. Why would I want to do that, apart from removing the pipe with the screw in it?

hadyn
Well if you were a total perfectionist, you could also chop down the bunged hose on the right of the pic too.
Scott
I made little aluminium bungs in work Trimmed the pipe right back to tidy it up. Been doing a lot of work in the engine bay though.

Scott
Superb car and you've just gotta love that Arc induction box Scott Thanks bud. Bloody expensive bit of kit, and i can't really say its worth it, but there is nothing else like it IMO. I wanted it so had to bite the bullet. hadyn
Think I might go back to running with a BOV again after today I noticed some slight stumbling/hesitation at rev limit gear changes with O/D off on the autobox. I can only put this down to having no BOV and air still in the system?
Geo
Sorry to Hijack your thread mate. But do you need a BOV, when running twins/single does it affect performance??
mikeyb10supra
Sorry to Hijack your thread mate. But do you need a BOV, when running twins/single does it affect performance?? In short.....no
hadyn
I have no issues with my car running no bov at lower speeds. The hesitation I've experienced at high rpm gear changes has made me want to put a bov on, either stock or vent to atmosphere..
