Bobbeh
Hmmm I tend to agree now mate......spose a toyota history dont mean shit really does it...... Sure it does as it helps confirm the cars mileage and servicing. Not all dealers are as bad as some of you like to make out. . It wont mean jack shit for an import tho. CJ
Sure it does as it helps confirm the cars mileage and servicing... Couldnt an independant garage stamp a book with mileage? . It wont mean jack shit for an import tho. Couldnt resist eh B?
Bobbeh
Yeah sure they can. But I guess people would generally prefer a full Toyota service history with their car as it would appear to have been checked over those who are supposed to know it best. Well it wont will it? Dont get your pants in a twist over nothing again Col
JohnA
Sure it does as it helps confirm the cars mileage and servicing. . The ininterrupted list of MoTs does the same thing for mileage, doesn't it? As for servicing, any dated receipt for oil/filter change is good enough for me. We're talking 10 year old cars here, hell even the web-based Parker's guide doesn't show them any more (withour paying ) .Not all dealers are as bad as some of you like to make out.. True. Some are worse
Bobbeh
The ininterrupted list of MoTs does the same thing, doesn't it? Yeah but that doesnt prove that its had the TOYOTA recommended parts and servicing required. If I bought an import with less/no history I would take it straight to JPS (for example) to have it serviced. If the car had a full toyota service history and my car was unmodified I would try to maintain the FTSH as it IS a selling point for UK models. JohnA
Yeah but that doesnt prove that its had the TOYOTA recommended parts and servicing required. . 'recommended' hah, what a laugh My Toyota dealer recommended to use Dextron II in the auto gearbox for the TT. ..."bargepole" comes to mind... Bobbeh
Well try taking it to a lexus dealer next time They've probably got more experience with the Supra and the 2JZ than Toyota as they used to sell them when they were about. Like I said, I've had no quams with my servicing from Toyota.
Green Peace
I'd goto Miami-GT in Basigstoke.. Vortex or Dude, get the Cambelt and leaky shock sorted, spark plugs and Antifreeze and if you require a stamp from a Toyota garage just have a normal service done in a few weeks..saying 'I dont need the Full monty' then you get the Toyota Stamp and everything else done for a resonable amount...and these guys know what a Supra is !!!! My 10p + VAT.
Bobbeh
Good idea Si But wouldnt they still be replacing the bits come service time anyway? Even if they dont need replacing as its deemed required for the service?
JohnA
I trust these 'authorised' people to round up the (partially corroded) bolts instead of soaking them in WD40 and/or using a blowtorch. I then trust them to recommend replacing the whole assembly, which they can conveniently source for the price of the whole car (in real market value) Just an example of how much I trust them to feather their own bed. They've got receptionists and rents and managers and bills to pay you know... On the other hand, I trust a known Supra specialist (say an enthusiast from this board) to do his best to protect what mechanical parts are there, instead of condemning them to oblivion because he can't be arsed to do the job properly. That's my nature though, trusting

CJ
They seem to be doing alright, got a feature car in Jap Peformance this month which looks cool I havent seen that yet. But let me take an educated guess here. Would they also happen to have had a large advert in it too?
carl0s
Plugs are £42 including VAT for 6x Platinum tipped NGK's from http://www.sparkplugs.com I think the ones I bought were BKR6EVX or something - the -VX means it's the platinum ones. Fitting took me about an hour, although the cam-case vent hoses were a bastard, I managed to do it with one of them still in place.

I know what you mean though. Maybe the editors thought 7 pages on the one car was enough advertising! Cracking looking car tho, a Lexus IS200 with a 2JZ-GTE lump and 600bhp+
