L33
my gf had a email at work from the bbc saying how there is a new 118 service starting up where every ones numbers will be available unless you unsubscribe yourself? has any one else heard about this? i personally think its a con, as my guess you will enter your number to remove but then are actually giving them your number for what ever reason? AlanM
Nope, they have bought million of numbers off the mobile phone companies. But they do ring you and ask you if you want XXXXX to be given your number. I tried to unsubscribe from it but their server was down

SteveR
From an email that went round at work - so don't jump me if this isn't 100% correct: Early next week all UK mobiles will be on a directory which will mean that anyone will be able to access the numbers. It is easy to unsubscribe but it must be done before the beginning of next week to make sure that you are ex directory. You may want to suggest it to all your friends and family who have UK mobiles or they could be swamped by unsolicited messages and calls. Removal is recommended by the BBC - see link below (9 June) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/working_lunch/8091621.stm The Directory of Mobile Phone numbers goes live next week.To remove your number go here. (you need your mobile phone with you to do this, they text you a code) http://www.118800.co.uk/removeme/remove-me.html
AlanM
Radio did a programme on it, it is genuine. I have the web address at my work for unsubscribing from it, will post it in here on Monday if nobody does it before that Edit - That is the one I have I think
