I still love this. Designed in the 1950s, flew in the cold war, Concorde also stole it's engines. The Avro Vulcan bomber.

 

It was used in one of the only military exercises in the US where they shut down the entire civilian air space to see if any planes could penetrate US air defence (aka WWIII / Russian attack).

 

A fleet of 8 - 7 got through to places like Washington from Vancouver. This is a tactical nuclear bomber. It could fly at 100 feet to avoid rader or inversely, fly at 56,000 feet above many fighter jets and due to the delta wing outmanouver many at the time. Got to love a good bit of British avionic design. One left flying now... :(
