Paul
Mate at work had an interesting start to the day walking his dog. He has a park with woods at the edge backing onto his garden and did his usual early morning routine by taking his dogs out, about 5 am. Well, this morning was slightly different, he noticed fairly soon that there was a figure over near the edge of the woods, he thought it was some weirdo watching, he then went over towards where he was 'standing' and as he got closer this bloke never moved. He decided to see what he was up to so went closer and then noticed when getting closer that the blokes feet were a few inches off the ground? Only then did he look up and see the noose round his neck, wrapped over a branch of the tree he was hanging under He was long gone so my mate phoned the Police who arrived within minutes, sealed off the area and got forensics in. Apparantly the guy who was in his twenties had a suicide note in his pocket. What a thing to find and what must the guy have gone through to decide on this ending:( R.I.P whoever you were. Anyway, my mate made a statement to the police and then came into work a few hours later ! He's talking about it OK, doesn't seem to have affected him, the boss offered for him to go home but he seems fine? I'll be nervous now when I take my dog for walks in woods

Paul
its ALWAYS the guy walking his dog. Im always suspicious of them They always find bodies... LOL, I guess we're the only mugs out that early so are the first buggers to find this sort of thing. On a serious note, can you imagine if he hadn't found him and someone of a weaker stomach or kids had made the discovery?
sullyd
something you would't come across everymorning R.I.P
Abz
its ALWAYS the guy walking his dog. Im always suspicious of them They always find bodies... - Always there to lighten the mood eh! On a sadder note, it is really sad and like you said...what must have gone through his mind to do this...to tell you the true I completely disagree of these suicides, you should always appriciate the gift of life no matter how hard or difficult the times are! Their is always someone who has it 10x's worse than you!
Paul
It's the affect it has on others by doing it in a public place, also what must his family be going through

JustGav
It's the affect it has on others by doing it in a public place, also what must his family be going through That is it.... My dad doesn't speak about it much it, but he was the one who discovered my godfather after he decided to 'alter' his lifestyle with a shotgun. I know it still bothers him to this day and he has seen similar things growing up in SA but none as entrenched as this for him. I have seen a few dead people both natural causes and otherwise, however an image that still haunts me to this day was a RATHER graphic episode of crime watch equivalent in SA. The police at the time had two heads they had discovered and were searching for clues.... I had of course missed the initial 30 seconds which said 'GRAPHIC IMAGES WILL BE SHOWN' as I had just walked in the living room. The TV picture being two lifeless heads covered up to a certain degree but it was VERY obvious they weren't attached. Being 8 yr old it scared the hell out of me and to this day I can still describe various features....guess as they say the first is always the hardest, since then I've not be bothered by it much. Paul
he;s an idiot for not taking the day off when offered He's a great bloke and not an arselicker, if it was a dead animal though he would have been devasted and it would have got to him more. Carl_S
Interesting twist to that. Funny old world, we are born, and sometime we die. In between some of us decide to kill ourselves, or sometimes we are killed by others, sometimes we get married and have a ball.

Be a good mate and check he's still like that tomorrow/day after/next few days - he may well be fine, or it might not have sunk in yet. merckx
I completely disagree of these suicides, you should always appriciate the gift of life no matter how hard or difficult the times are! When someone is in such a massively depressive state it can be the only way out for them, one of my brother's suffers really badly from depression and he's tried everything possible to overcome this without success. Their is always someone who has it 10x's worse than you! More than likely but it won't necessarily make you feel any better knowing that. I suspect if we were to look through the eyes of some of these people having difficulties in their lives, it would be a very dark place in deed. Simply to suggest the grass is greener is not that effective - otherwise everyone would be deliriously ok at the very least. I do believe some people use negative words and perhaps reinforce and perpetuate a grimness that perhaps isn't there - but for others it must be a horrific place to be. Havard
I was thinking that too, I'm sure tonight he'll be seeing that image as he tries to sleep It depends on how it affects you. I was ok at the time and even joking about it. The guy in question had hung himself from a 20ft tree in the middle of a housing estate. Whenever I looked up even days after, I could see him..... I would certainly pay him a visit..!! H.
Paul
I would certainly pay him a visit..!! He's married with kids so plenty of support but I'll be keeping an eye on him too, we find it easy to talk to each other about any subject so I'd notice any change;)

Hermit
Poor guy At least he went somewhere quiet to do it. Recently a woman jumped from a tower right in the centre of Oxford, could well have been up to 100 people who saw it, and it's so busy round there it's a wonder she didn't land on someone. http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/search/4452506.Eyewitnesses_tell_of_Carfax_death_plunge/
Kranz
It may not effect him as much as you'd think, well not right away. However if he gets any of the following symptoms he will need to seek help: Problems sleeping Constant irritability Increased reliance on alcohol Low sex drive Flashbacks PTSD affects a lot of people and the family are first to notice. I went to something similar a couple of years back after 3 other visits by colleagues who had put it down to a 'smell of nature'. Being a death hound I was sent and immediately spotted the telltale signs.... abandoned car close by with tax run out a couple of days ago full of posessions. Behind the driver's seat was a length of aluminium flexi hose flattened down at one end and tapered at the other to fit over the exhaust pipe and into the boot. Thing is modern cars are so clean they won't do the job. And the smell! He was 20 feet away next to a very busy footpath, actually visible through the bush. He'd been there 10 days in the heat of summer I actually thought his face was moving at first...... until I saw that it wasn't his face that was moving! His phone kept alerting to say he had a text.... the cookoo cookoo noise. Everytime I hear this I get the smell and his face. Wierd! You get used to it. As we were cutting him down the coroner was discussing what he was going to have for breakfast at the local greasy spoon.
Paul
I actually thought his face was moving at first...... until I saw that it wasn't his face that was moving! How much involvement do you have once discovered or do you just leave it down to forensics and undertakers?
