Hi guys,

quick question, Ive just bought an iphone off of a friend. I currently have a blackberry and am on o2 with the blackberry internet bolt on.

what will happen if i put my sim in the iphone and start using the internet? will i get charged to use it? am i going to have to call them up and tell them that im using an iphone and switch to an expensive iphone contract?

thanks

Miles

I am sure you wont need to change to an iPhone contract as you can buy the iPhone on PAYG on 02. If you have Internet access on your BB then you should be able to access it on your iPhone. I think you will need to let them know though so then they can change the access method from backend?

cheers for the replies guys.

I posted on the o2 forums and someone has said that apparently edge/gprs/3g all come as standard on any normal web bolt on so in theory i can call them up and say i want to swap my blackberry internet access to a standard web bolt on and it should work.

Can anyone confirm?

cheers

A blackberry works slightly differently I recall...

All email and browsing goes through their gateway, in my case orange's blackberry setup. The iphone should work fine however you wouldn't get the blackberry email push nor the blackberry adjusted browsing.

A normal web bolton should be enough for the iphone.

I got a htc diamond with the web bolt on a while back on a £35 a month contract. Didn't like the diamond so I sold it and got an Iphone 3g, I just swapped the sim and used it. That's nine months ago now, I do a good deal of browsing over 3g and I haven't paid a dime extra.

Thanks ryan that makes me feel a bit more confident of just changing the internet bolt on, dont really fancy going on an iphone contract, there so expensive for what they are.

any others with experience on this?
