rob wild
Right I know there is some bad feeling over the monthly meet! and TBH its a shame that since the demise of Mascrat we've never really as a group sorted out a regular meet. Anyway something that has been proposed is 'rolling' monthly meet. i.e. 1) MONTH 1:- Preston (north NW) area (Ribble) 2) MONTH 2:- Standish (Middle NW) area (Wiggin Tree) 3) MONTH 3:- Warrington (South NW) area (Dare I say Mascrat or simular) What do people think? Also what is the best day or part of the month for people? Discuss Edited July 9, 2009 by rob wild (see edit history)
Matt H
I think that's a good idea if we totally write Mascrat off after Monday. But the denominator for me is gonig to a vast meet with the variety of cars that Jap NW offers. You can go to the pub for a burger and a pint with your mates any time, any day, but it's not that often you can go somewhere where you can see loads of different cars. I think were missing the point of the monthly meet. For me it's all about the cars and the banter that brings. There can be an alternative, but it shouldn't have to clash with the JAP NW events. Matt H
I joined their forum and to say there is little site traffic is an understatement... What's that got to do with anything? Mascrat is a long standing JAP NW meet, which had grown and was a great monthly event. We went but were weren't JAP NW, and we probably had the biggest turn out of one particulary model of car at one point. Jap NW was the sort of hub for mascrat
martini
What's that got to do with anything? For one thing it meant that I joined up there and was looking for a hive of activity. I ended up joining frigging JNE because people actually talk on that fourm! It's great if you know everyone, but I certainly don't. I've only been on this forum a few months and there is a huge feel of community. I've already been to one meet and really enjoyed it. Jap NW was the sort of hub for mascrat Well, I haven't counted the number of posts that have said Mascrat is shit, but there is more than one... hence this very thread. Weirdly, I really like the supra but have little interest in other "rice mobiles". I get my Japonic fixes elsewhere. Whilst I am not everyone on the forum, it's clear that people really aren't happy with Mascrat and want a Supra meet elsewhere, which I would be more likely to go to due to the sense of community at mkivsupra.net. The problem is Matt and you will see this on Monday! Its not an "event" anymore in fact I saw more Jap performance cars at the Trafford center meet last week on a random Tuesday. Honestly last month there were no Skylines, MX5 and 1 evo. In the past they aways had a big presence. So its not just us that are not bothering. And at the moment Matt were not meeting in the numbers that we were. So the point of this is to try and make it fair i.e. covering all areas of the NW and getting everyone together. And for me that is the point i.e. meeting up with loads of other Soops and having the usual banter over the cars etc. As far as clashing with Mascrat Jap NW the only people that were their last month said they can't be bothered with it again. What's that got to do with anything? Jap NW was the sort of hub for mascrat Everything matey! It shows a total lack of interest!

Animal
As I said in the other thread; Mascrat can imbibe my testes if they think they'll get any money out of me. I couldn't care less about other rice burners, I'd rather just meet up with the folks on here who I have a laugh with (at). Although work commitments mean I'll be very unlikely to attand any meets in the near future (unless they come on a Sunday), the idea of a rotating fixture is a good one as it offers more options for those in different areas. I didn't mean that, I meant Japanese cars. I like skylines (R34 GTR only), Evos and GTOs are cool, Scoobies are cool too. But I am all about the supra these days It doesn't have to clash, but Mondays are best for me! But Matt non of those turn up anymore! If they did, I wouldn't mind seeing them I guess... but like I said - I get no feeling of a JNW community - especially from the forums, which is a shame. The fact that we are even having this discussion speaks volumes. Edited July 9, 2009 by martini (see edit history)
_Lynz_
This seems like a good idea to me as Rob has said the interest in Mascrat as a whole seems to have dropped dramatically. Can I just ask.... how many meets have you been to recently Matt? And you can't use the excuse that you've had no car cause according to you, your going to see the other cars anyway! Matt H
But Matt non of those turn up anymore! Aye, and they never will if everyone just says f"ck it, lets go and do our own thing...! Can I just ask.... how many meets have you been to recently Matt? And you can't use the excuse that you've had no car cause according to you, your going to see the other cars anyway! Why would i want to turn up to a Jap meet in my escort, when everybody else is there enjoying talking about there pride and joys and looking over them. To me that's just kicking myself in the balls while my car has been away for so long.

rob wild
Aye, and they never will if everyone just says f"ck it, lets go and do our own thing...! But why are they saying that? because Mascrat has treated us badly over and over again! and that is something that will not change whether there is 5 jap cars turn up on Monday all the whole jap nw community! but saying all that 'if' Mascrat could improve then the people might start going back! But I don't reward poor service!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So its Paul@JapNW that has it all to do with Mascrat really! Why would i want to turn up to a Jap meet in my escort, when everybody else is there enjoying talking about there pride and joys and looking over them. To me that's just kicking myself in the balls while my car has been away for so long. Because:- I think were missing the point of the monthly meet. Well maybe if you had turned up and been turned away from Mascrat and told not to come back... and then followed the meet to the Noggin only to be told the same thing... and then followed it back to mascrat to once again be told that they don't want your businesss maybe it would add more weight to your argument. But you haven't. Feel free to go to Mascrat just don't sulk cause the rest of us have had enough!

The people who are "less than enthusiastic" about the JNW meet at Mascrat, are the ones who've experienced the bad events, and continued to support them nonetheless, in order to try and keep the "core" together. Matt, you flatly refused to consider other locations as they were "too far" so we, time and again, went back to Mascrat to placate you. Invariably you didn't turn up - or left incredibly early - so it was only us that suffered the bad experiences. You still have the Rose tinted spectacles from the Halcyon days when it was actually a *VERY* good event. Mike
Matt H
Which is why I do turn up to the meets when my cars off the road and will not be in the soop on Monday either as bugger is broken again! That's fair enough, but i love my car with a passion, and turning up and seeing everyone else enjoying their cars is just a reminder of what i'm missing out on. Makes me feel both gutted and angry at the same time! not good! a) what's wrong with your supra? Nothing, buy there was somthing serious wrong with it until Michel Lane worked him magic i.e, it had done the rounds at the cowboy outfits much to my unfortune and my wallet too b) If you aren't even going to any meets until it's ready, then why are you even giving your opinion, Escort boy? only messin I've been going meets... loooong before my car was off the road, still did go as well now and again. Bit rich from Mr one meet, hey N/A boy it's gay Better than driving a polo harlequin though Feel free to go to Mascrat just don't sulk cause the rest of us have had enough! I can understand everyone being fed up with Mascrat, and don't blame anyone for not going, i'm no asking anyone to. All i'm saying is don't have the monthly meet for mkiv.net on the same day as Mascrat for those few that do want to go to both. That's all i'm trying to say. Everyone else is the one throwing the toys out. I simply post up saying, Mascrat 13th July (well actually it was the wrong date but hey ), then get a load of emotion filled responses saying no we're not going. That's fine, but then for a post to come up directly saying Ribble Pilot 13th July, it's just seems like a battle. I'm not Sulking at all Lynz lol, this sounds like sulking: Well maybe if you had turned up and been turned away from Mascrat and told not to come back... and then followed the meet to the Noggin only to be told the same thing... and then followed it back to mascrat to once again be told that they don't want your businesss! I was one of the only few who went to Japshow from the NW as it was too far for everyone. When ever i talked about distance it was in referance to the "core" as you suggest. One of the lads i really look forward to seeing at the meets is Dr Doom, he comes from jct 16 or 17 on the M6. I'd happilly treck on my own merits to Preston for a meet if the "core" including all the other cars is there. And now i have my supra back on the road, i'd go Scotland for a decent meet. Perhaps it seems i'm defending Mascrat when it's the JAP NW / Supras, other clubs collaboration that i'm passionate about. Perhaps if i was there on the two occasions that were cr%p then i'd perhaps be more angry myself. The first was with the cops turning up. That was quite a biggy, but i wasn't there for that. I know there was another time when you got stone refused service. There was the last time i went when we didn't get served but i had a word with the manager and he ended up sorting us supra lot out... Which were the other times? rob wild
I feel this has sort of gone off topic TBH. The general consensus seems to be that Mascrat is not worth going to at the moment. But it may pick up in the future at which point as a group we may decide to start attending again. However for now what do people think about the location of the meets and any other suggestions?
