Mazda MX5 uk spec 1.8

Hi as i am hopefully purchasing a Supra in the next month i want to get rid of my current car.

I have a UK spec mx5, spec as follows.

UK MX5 in silver stone metallic.

Matching hard top (no soft top)

1.8 engine

Full Racing Beat Exhaust (4-1, de-cat mid section, tail pipe)

K+N air filter with home brew piping.

Innovite race rapid wheels in black with ditch finder (nankang) tyres

Eunos rear number plate panel (uk supplies)

Eunos bootlid (uk supplied, with boot rack).

This would make an ideal track/ toy car. It has had a lot of weight stripped out of it and started off light anyways as it is the pov spec version it has no ABS, E/W, AC or PS. At a guess i would say its 135bhp and 920 kgs (i did a 15.7 @86 at santa pod and i weigh 16 stone)

The exhaust sounds real good, its not loud at idle but above 4k it has a nice rasp to it but not of the 'ricey' style.

Body work is good for a 14 year old car, with just 1 very small rust patch (common on uk cars) and some very slight scratching, there is also some small car park dents that are very hard to find.

Mileage - 78,000ish

MOT - mid may 2010

Tax - early 2010

V5 - present

I'm looking at getting rid of the car late this July to early August.

Price will be £800 as i want a quick sale. the exhaust cost more and 2nd hand is worth £500, hardtop is worth about £400 so would be easy to buy, break and make money.

Car will come with a spare set of OEM mazda alloys, spare bootlid and number plate panel, new stick on front number plate, 2 x rear plates of different sizes + cat for MOT time.

I will upload pics if there is any interst.

Please contact me via PM to try and keep the thread clean.

Thanks.

How difficult / expensive would it be to put the folding roof back in if required?

How about using it as a deposit to buy my car? ;)

genuine mazda mohair roof (with glass) is about £450 fitted, but can get other roofs for less... just avoid the vinal ones.

The frame and soft top were both in terrible condition.

A new roof can be bought for about £150ish, not sure on the frame, i still have it and will let it go with the car but tis not in the best of condition.

The frame is held in with 6 bolts iirc then the soft top needs to be installed onto that, its quite easy to do but is very time consuming taking around 6-8 hours.

I wouldnt pay more than 500 for a frame and soft top to be installed and i can put you in touch with a guy in the west mids who is very good at this kind of thing.
