Sharpie
Last Friday and Saturday mornings, around 01:30, the missus and I have been woken by a bat in our bedroom. OK, we had the windows open as it was rather warm overnight but, it's not unusual for us to have the windows open. Obviously, when we put the light on the bat went nuts so, we left the room and switched the light off, a cup of tea later and the bat had found it's own way out. When it happened the first time, we still left the windows open afterwards as otherwise it would of been too hot and it did not return that morning. BUT, at around the same time the next morning, flap feckin flap down my ear.....not good! Again, it found it's own way out after 5-10mins. The bats are out every night, around my house but, it's the first time in ~2yrs since we moved here that they/it has come into the house. I know they are protected but, any tips to keep them out during this warm spell ? (other than keeping the windows shut
Dave17
There are little things you can buy to keep dogs and cats out of your garden that emit an incredibly high pitched noise that only they can hear, i'm wondering if it would work on bats seeing as they have superb hearing as well. martini
Get some netting or mesh to put up over the window to stop them coming in.
Aweegin
..get yaself a fairly plain piece of net curtain and tack it (or gaffa tape) it so it's taught over the opening.. works for keepin out bugs n flies...bats..hmm. Reason says something more solid like the beady curtain type thing would be perceptible to their sonar so it may think its solid and keep out. It's probably thinkin the window is a small entrance to a cave, or roof space etc. Maybe...

Yep I'd go with this... you can buy netting stuff on fleabay which is supposed to stop bugs coming in but you could tape it down... if you get a light net curtain then you can still have some of the breeze without any of the batting around. heckler
No, as I recently had he loft re-insulated a month or two back and I asked the guy to check for me, he only found a birds nest. just wondering, as we had abut 400 bats living in one of the walls, so when the went out, we just blocked the entrance up - no more bats! Rob
Ask them here....http://www.bats.org.uk/ Be careful though, bats and bees, you can't kill 'em. (Legally, I mean, I'm not suggesting they are immortal)
