jk136
Has anyone else experienced a very slow broadband internet connection once Sky HD has been installed? Does anyone know what is gained by pluggng the HD box into the phoneline? Is it just all games and services become available? And will it affect the usual Sky operation if I took the phoneline plug out? When its in, its painfully slow (like 56k or slower) then soon as its unplugged, back up to its usual speed. Any comments on this or simular experience??
JustGav
You have to have the phoneline installed as part of the contract, it sounds like an ADSL filter hasn't been installed. I assume when you unplug the skybox your internet is fine.
imi
dont see the relation between a SKY BOX and BROADBAND. yeah - probably what Gav said - if there is no filter then I am surprised that it is not working - LOL
jk136
Imi, I think the Sky box gets either its TV listings or possibly the games/service through the phone line, thats all. Ive just checked the configuration of the ADSL filter and the other leads and it looks like the Skybox was set up to be before the ADSL filter, Ive swaped it the opposite way around and it looks to be working now. Thanks Gav, it was your message that kinda got my mind working...long day at work!
Al Massey
You need to keep the sky box connected to the phone line because the sky box does a call back randomly and if the box isnt connected you get charges, and if you have multiroom you get charged for the whole sky package and not the multiroom charge
Guest fernando9
hey there jk136, i have also the exact same problem you have described. ever since i got sky hd for the world cup, ive had to suffer with the internet only reaching speeds of 56k. i was wondering if you could explain how you overcame the problem? as sky themselves claim they have never heard of a problem like this before.. thanks in advance
caliAl
I've had my Sky HD box unplugged for nearly 2 years and not had a problem.
