j80leo
Well where do i start, me and my partner brought our first dog together a red boxer ( bitch ) she was the best dog we could ever ask for. With having our little boy 7 months ago we thought it best that we had the dog spayed because of all the mess when she is in season and he would be crawling around soon in the mess. We had to take the dog to the vet for a booster and at that time she was having a phantom pregnency and the vet told us if we do not have her spayed then she would die on her next season. We thought we best get it done as soon as possible as we did not want to loose our first baby. After having the spay she came home and did not eat or drink anything so we had to take her back to the vets where she stopped for 5 weeks until today when my partner had a call saying we need to go into the vets and have her put to sleep. Me and my partner are so upset at the moment as we went off the advise of the vet which turned out to be the death of her, anyway thought i would share this with you guy's and gal's on here as i needed to tell someone:( Adam

j80leo
Thanks guys for the nice comments, I think we just need some time now to get over it. I know they are not family but they sure tug the heart strings, we all had a good time together even though it was for only 6 years. tbourner That's so sad, really sorry. Hope you had insurance at least, and use a different vet next time! Yes we did thank god i would never have another dog without it as this bill was £6000 and we have had a few others which were around £1000 each so well worth it. I will get some pics up later:(

hadyn
Mate - I know how you feel. I cant think of anything more terrible to me personally (as I have no kids) than one of my dogs dying You must be crushed. My heart goes out to you.
andygood
Terrible buzz, mate! It's always a real crappy ordeal to go through. Trust me, the best thing you guys can do is get another pup, (and a new vet by the sound of things).
keancy
I don't care what some People say but your Pet is part of your Family and it's Heartbreaking to lose them For you Buddy x
Thorin
Sorry to hear that, terrible news the vet told us if we do not have her spayed then she would die on her next season. Our Dane had phantom pregnancies before, she wasn't spayed until she was 4, and I have serious concerns about any vet who tells you that! pistonbroke
Absolutely gutted for you mate, she looked beautiful. The boxer is a great dog, brilliant personality. Always over the moon when they see you (even if you've only left the room for 10 minutes ) I feel for you matey, I really do. I don't think I've ever felt a more painful sadness than when I lost my first dog. The advice to get another one is sound, there is a dog out there that you can provide a perfect home too. Not only that, they are great at lifting your spirits during hard times. Don't think of a new dog as a replacement, think of them as a reminder of how much you love them. mkirby
i know what your going though mate, our red boxer bitch is still with us at the moment but if it turns out she does have a tumour in her spine we will have to have her put down which makes my heart churm just thinking about it as she is our second child!! also i would report the vet as we have had boxers for many years and a couple of them used to have phantoms every year and never had any issues!! i know thats no use to you now but i would want the questions asked. Mike ps she looks very much like my nelly
