ask littlenum, hes the ring king.

Cheers adnan but i wouldnt go that far ;) well if you have a playstation 2 then the only game to play is gt4 the track is so much like being there its like you are once you get into the game.

Use the woodone supra and tweak it a little (power - weight) then you should be hoping to pull out a 7 min until your getting the hang of it, me and the lads + bignum had a ps night sunday and i managed to do a 6.05 in the woodone car, the others were doing 7's so aim for that.

But you can follow us round for the first few laps if you want :p

I'm really enjoying it in GTR Evolution, it's supposed to be quite an accurate reproduction of the track too.

The best conversion on a computer game is still Gran Tourismo by far !

I've played GTR2 versions of the NRing but IMO they are not very accurate at all.

They have most of the corners going in the right directions but the dimensions, the elevations, cambers etc. are all wrong. Some extra corners have been added in order to get the track to join up, some have been altered for the same reason.

Not played the GTR-Evolution versions yet, but if they are anything like the GTR2 versions then not great.

I'm still waiting for Gran Tourismo 5 to come out !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting. I did a fair amount of hunting for 'accurate' depictions of the track before buying GTR Evo, struggled to find anything for or against its accuracy. I know the Forza 2 version is supposed to be bad, bought a PS2 just to play GT4 and never actually got around to buying the game or plugging it in!

I think Gran Turismo 5 is due for December isn't it? It's a fair old wait.. :(

From plenty of experience of both, I think Forza2 is pretty dammed good actually! There is only 1 short section of straight where it's not quite right, the game seems to think it's longer than it is in real life.

From memory I think the Gran Tourismo version is the only version that was created from a lidar survey...ie. they drove a truck equiped with lazer point mapping technology around the track to get a true digital re-creation.

Obviously they would not have the playstation memory or power to use the full detailed model in the game, so they would have had to trim it down when it comes to each and every bump in the road, but still, it results in an 'accurate' re-creation of the track for game purposes.

Any other game version is most likely to be a 'best guess' from looking at videos and aerial imagery etc. Probably using the Gran Tourismo track as a guide.

I actually use lidar survey models sometimes in my line of work, they can be HUGE file sizes, and the 20mm resolution models can pick up things like overhead electric cables etc.

They are usually done by the use of helicopters these days.
