Big end bearings

I noticed that the new bearings i got from mr T have different size holes in them. The new ones are about halve the size of the old ones.

Its the correct part supplied by toyota, so i am unsure what to do with them.

Will they be ok to fit?

small hole ones are correct for the TT

larger holes for an NA.

So it would appear that your engine may have been rebuilt (has it?) previously with the wrong ones?...............either that or both the engines i dismantled had both been previously rebuilt with the wrong bearing type :D

doh i thought we were talking about main bearing, sorry

I mean the con rod bearings, but every one i have spoken to refers them as big end bearings.

Scooter - thats the sort of answer I'm looking for. But the holes in the crank and the piston are the same size as my original bearings.

Chris has given them the nod so i'm sure they will be fine, I will however have a good look at both NA and TT parts this evening out of curiosity :)

Both rods have oil squirters, which the holes feed. The jet hole in the squirter is FAR smaller than even the small feed hole in the shells. Personally I'd err towards the smaller hole shell, assuming bearing material is the same, as you have more bearing area, but it's probably academic.
