IR for PS3

I want to control it by infared,

By turning it on and off, thats why i originally asked about infared to bluetooth devices

If you want to be able to turn it on and off by IR then you have very limited options. None of the ones you can buy in a shop will do this.

I know there are solutions (IR2BT?) but they are usually made by specialist people and sold in fairly limited numbers.

I use my PS3 controller to switch the PS3 on and off - and then do everything else by IR.

Yeah ive been reading about the IR2BT, got quite confusing after a while.

May see if i can get someone to make one up for me.

Anyone on here want to give it a go?:D

or i may just get the dongle you have and wait till a decent one is out

Would it turn the PS3 on if it was getting powere from another USB?

Could you try for me?

I think you're misunderstanding something. The USB dongle / IR remote solutions you buy from a shop are not IR to BT. They communicate via the USB port. If you have the dongle plugged in to a non-PS3 USB port it won't do anything at all.
