DaveK
It didnt mention in the vid the harmony controls the ps3 via infra red, but it did say it will control it I know it would. Any learning remote can control the PS3 via IR.
DaveK
I want to control it by infared, By turning it on and off, thats why i originally asked about infared to bluetooth devices If you want to be able to turn it on and off by IR then you have very limited options. None of the ones you can buy in a shop will do this. I know there are solutions (IR2BT?) but they are usually made by specialist people and sold in fairly limited numbers. I use my PS3 controller to switch the PS3 on and off - and then do everything else by IR.

May see if i can get someone to make one up for me. Anyone on here want to give it a go? or i may just get the dongle you have and wait till a decent one is out

Al Massey
just double cheked, you can only turn off Damn, is that because you have it plugged into the PS3 and it doesnt have power when the PS3 is off?
Jellybean
Damn, is that because you have it plugged into the PS3 and it doesnt have power when the PS3 is off? yeah it draws its power from the USB port, so need to be on
Al Massey
yeah it draws its power from the USB port, so need to be on Would it turn the PS3 on if it was getting powere from another USB? Could you try for me?
DaveK
Would it turn the PS3 on if it was getting powere from another USB? Could you try for me? I think you're misunderstanding something. The USB dongle / IR remote solutions you buy from a shop are not IR to BT. They communicate via the USB port. If you have the dongle plugged in to a non-PS3 USB port it won't do anything at all. Ah i thought his was IR to BT, never mind the quest is still on So his will only have limited function then
DaveK
I guess his might be but I doubt it - mine certainly isn't.
Jellybean
Just confirmed its not IR to BT, the ir signal is transmitted via the USB
martini
I don't think there is IR to BT. If there was, it would not need to physically connect to the PS3 because that would be USB, not BT.

There is IR to BT and the reason it connects to the usb is to charge it
