j1mb0b1
Really worried here guys just gone out and started the car and a big cloud of blue smoke came out of tail pipe, And I mean a big cloud I had the window down and it filled the car full of smoke. So I turned her off and went to check the oil nothing on the dip stick at all, I last checked it 3 weeks ago and it was fine, So I went to get the oil out of the house I had 2L left so banged that in, Buy now it's showing well full it's past the F mark and about half inch up the dip stick, really confused now and iam going to the ring in 3 weeks !!!! Btw no oil light has ever come on nor has it ever smoked like that on start up before
RobSheffield
My advice would be to drain all the oil down and refill with new to be sure of the level. DO NOT start it with too much oil in!
Havard
Are you saying that you just banged 2L of oil in without checking the level?? As Rob says, drain it off and slowly fill it to the correct level. I have no idea what is causing the smoking though..... H.
Pixelfill
Voice of experience there. Sounds like it could be (Valve Stem?) seals going. Always more noticable when the car has been left for a while. As Rob says though you now need to sort your oil level before running it further. Mike
Bob
Sounds like it might be a leaking valve stem seal Doh, beaten to it!

No as said in the first post I checked the oil level and it was not even showing on the dip stick so I put 2L in and now it's well over full. Kirk
x3 on the valve stems being shot, blue smoke = burning oil which is usualy down to stem seals or piston rings

j1mb0b1
Sounds like it might be a leaking valve stem seal Doh, beaten to it! If it was the valve stem seal would it not just be a little puff?, This was like a bomb had gone off, Looked like the trotters 3 wheel van had pulled up
Ric
Btw no oil light has ever come on nor has it ever smoked like that on start up before Your car has smoked before on startup i told u about it before. Can mean only one thing, stem valve oil seals depends on how long its left, and the gradiant of your parking area wouldnt help probably
j1mb0b1
I drove it last night and it was parked on the flat. When it's done it before you could only see it if you was round the back of the car and was a Very small puff, can they just give way like this and get very bad then ?, How am I looking for the ring ? not good
Kirk
change your oil dude, empty and refill properly, and run it for a bit to clear the excess, then turn it off and start it up again after a while, if your still chucking huge amounts of smoke your in need of seals. j1mb0b1
Can the valve stem seals be left or am I going to need to do Something with them before I go to ring?
RobSheffield
Its not what you want to hear, but i would repair before the ring. Ideally head off, but can be done in situ, look for a guide by Tlicense.
Scooter
Btw no oil light has ever come on nor has it ever smoked like that on start up before did you drive enthusiastically last night? Have you recently changed the oil? If its never done anything on this level before then i would, as you've been advised, sort your oil level out (it was probably reading low when you first checked partly because you had just started it and hadn't then let it settle) take it out again and see what happens tomorrow. Then check your oil level every day before you first drive it, fo rme it would all be about the rate of oil consumption as to whether i'd take it as is. I had a bit of a hard drive yes and the oil was last changed 5 months ago or 6k-7k ago
Swampy442
The reason it probably showed empty is because you'd just ran the engine, the oil hadnt returned to the sump yet and the oil was probably low in the first place. Only the last litre or so shows on the dipstick. As per other advice, drain and refil
