P 17EED
Im hopefully going on a roadtrip with my cousin the last week of this month. Im traveling through france and ending at costa del sol where my uncle lives. Im taking my winter run around its a 1997 Rover 416!! Recently had a headgasket so fingers crossed it will make it, but thats half the fun. Im either scrapping the car or selling it in costa del sol and flying home. Just wondered if anyone knows if i need road tax when driving abroad? Fuel prices? Also if any ones got any advice on a route that would be good still havent decided which way to go!! Lbm
You'll need road tax to get your car to a UK port, surely? Frankly to consider doing a road trip without road tax is indicative of a careless driver. In terms of advice, avoid all police at all times and particularly avoid those routes (most roads & built up areas) where you may kill someone, especially with no tax etc. Have a pleasant trip. Now then, I'm no legal expert, but don't be one those blokes who says...I didn't think...I was only trying to save a few quid... Then you end up paying some 3ooo,ooo Euro fine/compensation to a French family and end up in a small cell with a man called Albert Le Nonce-a-lot, who is nice enough in the mornings, but it's his night time activities with your bottom that should concern you - probably. Have a pleasant trip. PS I still don't get the "I thought I could post it to DVLA for a refund?" bit. Are you saying your funds are so limited you're not sure you can afford perhaps even the petrol? - unless you refund...nevermind.

So what ur trying to say is, Yes you do need road tax when driving abroad? Im sending the tax back because at the moment the car is declared sorn, im using it for 1 week then scrapping it so there is no need to tax it for minimum of 6 months. Lbm
Hmmmm...you read me like a book. Why don't you use the car and the tax on your trip, have a nice time, return home - if it's only for a week and then send your tax back?
