im having a few issues with my car

its an l-reg import n/a manual

basically it will be driving fine , then all of a sudden everytime i stop and press in the clutch the revs will drop and it stalls, then when i start it again it will drive a bit spluttery , then suddenly clear up again and be fine until i stop again and press the clutch in again:search:

also i have tried to do a fault diagnosis but the orange light on the rev counter just stays permanently lit up, doesnt flash at all just constantly lit , it stays lit up even when i havnt got E1 and TE1 bridged

help me please,

im thinking maybe fuel filter blocked as i ran it very low on fuel and had to coast into the petrol station  how possible is this that it is the problem

hi animal-z, I been having the exact same problem with mine, its the same year and spec as yours too except my light comes on when it likes, on and off sometimes. its only stalled a couple of times at the lights but sometimes when it idles it feels like its trying not to stall, revs go up and down slighly and alittle juddery. so ive started using some red-ex to clean the engine and also premium fuel whether or not this will cure the problem im not sure cos ive only just got the car and trying to use a quick simple method but sounds to me that we could have the same problem here.

definately sounds very similar to what mine is doing . lets hope we can both get sorted

homer ive tried checking for error codes, ive bridged e1 and Te1 but the big orange light with the exclamation mark just stays light, doesnt flash or anything just a fixed light :(

i think i have the problem sorted now, it was the map sensor, the vacuum pipe from the inlet manifold was loose

it was coming up with codes 31 and 42 but 31 is afm which the j-spec n/a doesnt have but its equivalent is the map sensor,

ive pushed the pipe fully on and it is running nicely now

lets see if it lasts :)

if its loose, maybe better off replacing the pipe, as they get older they harden up and break...
