tbourner
Taken from MG ZR forum. Better service than a lot of other companies give!!: Ok, so it wasn't my car at the time but I feel it needs telling. Last Monday me and Paul (56 pcd) went to Longbridge in his turbo conversion Zed to show our support. Just before leaving Leeds his car developed a leak from a burst water pipe, just a small hole that sprayed water out under pressure. After a steady drive down there, we joined the convoy from the services and drove round with the rest of em. Paul turned round and headed back to MG Sport & Racing where all the workers were outside watching all of the cars go past. We pulled into their car park and asked if they could help with the burst pipe which had got worse. Like I said it wasn't my car but I was involved so I'm gonna say it. THANK YOU MGR and MG Sport & Racing The technicians tried to repair the pipe but unfortunately it didn't work so after a run we headed back to sport & racing to explain that it hadn't worked. We were taken into the show room/sales area (The mecca for MG fans I tell you!) whilst the guy helping us (my apologies I cannot remember your name at this time) went off to make some phone calls to see if we could get a replacement pipe. After literally 2 minutes he came back with good news, the parts dept over the road had a new pipe. He gave us the names and extension numbers of the people we needed to talk to and how to get to the parts dept. He even gave us his works mobile number if we had any trouble! We go over explain it to the goods inwards guy and he takes us up into the Sport & Racing sales office. Where the parts guy, Richard, had the pipe waiting for us. Paul got his new pipe and we went to fit it, Richard followed us down to make sure everything was ok. We were soon joined by the goods inwards bloke again, who even went and got us some coolant to put into the system and helped us make sure nothing else was wrong. We were soon joined by Stew (Yellow-peril) and after a chat we said our thanks to which they replied "Thank you for coming down and supporting us" Even in their worst day they are all still willing to help anyone that is in trouble when they could have simply said "no, sorry". These are the people that work at Longbridge, every single one of them are worth their weight in gold. I for one will not ever forget this, once again thank you all at MGR and MG Sport & Racing. Green Peace
nice story. whatever you think of the cars you have to feel gutted for those guys. Thats a lovely story its great when people pull together in times of crisis yep was a sad day for all those people, and motoring History. I have never owned a Rover or an MG...nearest thing I ever bought was a Honda Concerto (which was basically part Rover) Very Good car...never let me down was very comfy and good to drive..better than most modern cars in its league. I dont understand why everyone used to slag off the Rover 75...I thought it was one of the best cars they ever built along with the old SDi Si
MARTIN R
Not a fan of the cars, but feel gutted for those losing their jobs.

Muffleman
I'm definitely getting an MG in a few months time. I drove the ZT260 with the 4.6v8 Mustang engine. RWD, no traction, easily controllable when stepping out, made a nice noise, comfy etc etc. Nearly £30k new and there's an '04 in Autotrader with less than 8k on the clock for ? £13,999 They're only gonna get cheaper, and that's when I'll pounce (like a lemming probably )
BigRoy
Trust a Zed to break down:D Rover have a brand problem, they suck! It doesnt matter how good their cars are (are they?) the image is pants, out dated and well, suck. Nissan produce mass appeal cars but still came out with the 300. It wasnt a reliable car the design was flawed BUT it looked cool. People bought them, its simple supply and demand. I dont think I'll miss the marque but yes I feel sorry for the workers, except the design team who probably wear wooly tank tops and play cribbage. RobSheffield
there are now NO new ZR's left, and im also told there are VERY few MG TF's left over (the MGF) my parents bought a car from Nottingham, and are having it delivered. There were many deals this weekend, but none really left now. im near certain that in 2 months there will be NONE left!!! especially not the ZT260. although, MG Rovers final interesting idea, was to send hundreds of ZR's and ZT's and stuff to hire companys and any company they had vehicle supply arrangements with, they had no choice but to take them, and these could be sold off for peanuts soon enough. my advice from having gone with my dad and speaking to a harrassed salesman, would be to buy NOW if you want a new one at all!!! muffleman, you are right, as i said above, fleets will be offloading them to add to the obvious collapse in demand and brand integrity.
