nick_karkie
Hi guys, just last night out of nowhere I got this knocking noise from under the car towards the rear. It doesn't happen at idle or when accelerating but as soon as I take my foot off the accelerator it starts. The faster the car is moving the faster the knocking noise. I assume it should be easy to diagnose because the symptoms are pretty specific. I am thinking part of exhaust or propshaft I have read about. Any help? Thanks

Terminator
There are many possible causes. I would get your rear subframe mounting bolts checked. They are a service item very often overlooked. As cars get older many of the numerous bushes at the rear could be the culprit. It will have to be a process of elimination.
bigbloodyturbo
I had a similar noise as you and it turned out to be the wheel nuts going walk about.
nick_karkie
top man bigbloodyturbo, was exactly what you said, nearly all 5 bolts on my rear driver's side wheel were on the verge of coming off, I tightened them up and no noise, thanks a million
