ClaireRZ-S
I just got braces on my teeth . Fair sore. Just wondering does anyone else have them and wondering when do they stop hurting so much. I look like i've a gum shield on to but i guess it will be worth it in the end

Pixelfill
pics I used to have braces as a kid, the type like a denture with wires. not the ones glued to your teeth. Mike
Homer
They settle down after a few days, but don't go buying any apples in the near future! Are they train track ones (well that's what they were called back when I had them, 17 years ago!). It gets a little sore every time they tighten them gets less uncomfortable each time. If it's just the gum sheild type then it's nothing to worry about, they will settle down quickly. It's well worth the pain though. Every time in the last 16 years my dentist says I have perfect teeth

I had them when i was 12 never wore retainers and they have moved , they arent too bad a few teeth on top pushed in etc. He said though if i leave it they will get worse so i said feck it . I hate when i smile and stuff.

Can hurt like **** if they are over tightened. Strangely, I have never known an adault to have train tracks, and I have worked at a dentist, how are you if you dont mind me asking Clare? AlexM
Good on you for getting them sorted. I had braces when I was younger, but kept biting through the retainers so they all moved again - really don't like my teeth as they are now.

martini
It takes a lot of courage to have braces as an adult; good work. You wont regret it. I found my girlfriend just as hot at the time The confidence boost it will give you after cannot be matched (apparently).
caseys
My missus just had braces installed yesterday, both top and bottom for 18 months. Been told if you have issues you can put wax on where it's getting sore from rubbing. Some people have even used the wax from Babybell cheese As Homer said, no apples, no crusty bread. Been told sweet stuff can be OK if you brush your teeth immediately after!
