BPU question

Hi everyone,

I've searched the forums for information on BPU to the Supra, and was wondering if there is an order in which to do the modifications?

I'm not 100% going the BPU route, but I may consider it if I can do the modifications and keep the car for my daily drive. Or is it best to save up, buy everything and install everything and use something else to get to work? Oh, and I've got a JSpec.

Thanks everyone, much appreciated!

EDIT: And as a sidenote, I was wondering how much people have spent and the best places, generally, to buy the different bits of kit required.

Andy.

It does not all have to be done at once. There is much to be said for doing it bit by bit, as you get to appreciate all the changes to the car. If you can't wait do it all in one go.

A good place to start is removing the second cat and replacing the system to the back of the car. With the first cat still in place you will not get boost spikes. You will need to get a FCD to stop the car hitting fuel cut under WOT. Keep the standard air box, don't let anyone pursued you otherwise.

Brilliant, Cheers for the advice Phil, I'll keep that all in mind.

You can do the mods in stages, but there is a point at which you need the full package.

Stuff that can be done right away (all acan be done individually)

1) Boost gauge (or other gauges like AFR)

2) Cat back exhaust

3) FCD

4) Fuel pump

5) New intercooler (optional, not required)

6) Boost controller (Optional on jspecs, mandatory on UK's)

Once all the above is in you can remove one or both of the cats.

After the decats and restrictor ring are in you must now fit:

7) Grade 7 plugs

Note: You can remove just one cat at any point though the peak boost does vary a great deal between cars. If it's below 0.9 bar then you don't really need to add the FCD, fuel pump and plugs, but it's not really worth doing a half job, might as well get them replaced in one go

Again, thanks so much for your advice. More positive about going the BPU route now.:)
