Keith C
My car needs a full fluids change (BTW, what to use in the diff?), and I'm wondering whether it's still the case that V160 is the only thing to use, or if a suitable alternative was ever found? Cheers anyone who can help

Alex
Oh look... I did! http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=56684 Manual 6-speed V160/161 Gearbox Stock = Toyota V160 oil (PART No. 08885-01306) Capacity 1.8l's when dry Toyota V160 Oil (comes in 1L cans - require 2 cans) Alternative: Esso Dextron D21065 - R34 Skyline has same box and uses this, however this too is in short supply BMW oil called MTF-LT-1 or LT-2 - Feedback required from testers Castrol Transmax Z - Feedback required from testers Royal Purple SynchroMax - Feedback required from testers Mobil ATF 220 - Feedback required from testers I recommend you stick with stock but in recent times this has been hard to get hold of, so it's the Esso now... Interval = 2 Years / 30,000miles depending on use/power levels LSD Diff Oil Stock = Unknown 75w90 Gear Oil Capacity ~1.5L's (have 2L's Ready) 75w90 - Motul Gear 300 or Silkolene Syn5 I recommened either of the two listed - both have been used without issue. Interval = 2 Years / 30,000miles depending on use/power levels See here for details on changing diff oil. Keith C
Ah, I did do a bit of a search but must have missed it. Ta!
Angarak
FYI, you can still get v160 from WhifBitz on here, possibly from some other traders too.
Keith C
I called my local Mr T dealer and gave them the part code for the V160. They said is has indeed been discontinued, but it had a note in the system saying it has been superceded by a Dexron Type IV ATF, which is only £42 for a 5-litre tub! Once I have it I'll let people know the exact spec.
imi
Thats good, keep us posted Keith.
Keith C
Well I picked it up today, along with a printout of the note in the system regarding it's replacement. The note says: Part number: 08885 01306 Part description: V160 Gear Oil MTM RA Code: 7: No longer available in original form ACS Information: This is the local alternative: ESSO ATF DEXRON type: D21065. / P/N 08886-82025 It used to be available across Europa. (P. Kohut) So part number 08886-82025 is the replacement, and is a 5 litre tub of ATF type T IV, costing £42.55 +vat - less than a tenner a litre! Amusingly, the Toyota system has it's description as 'POWER STG FLUID', but the container itself definitely says ATF
