Homer
As above for a good start. Also check that you have aded the MAC address for your xbox to the allowed list on the router.
Meko
with Virgin, make sure you reboot the modem after doing anything... even looking at it. All the ones i've ever had to deal with have been a nightmare, any change needs a reboot.

wkdtime
I have no idea how to do any of this. I have called virgin and they do not deal with the xbox so basicly wont help and i have also called xbox and they are no help and barely speak english so are very hard to understand. Really winding me up now. I dont get it, when the virgin network is in the list in the corner it says WEP not WPA and surely if it was transmitting in WPA it would have WPA in the corner? and the xbox transmits in both so why is it a problem? And why does it ask for the WEP key and not the WPA? I have no clue about any of this im just going by what i have been told, i do know it was much easyer with our old wireless box! Did you configure the router or did it come pre configured? It seems as thought the Wireless secuirty has been set WEP (Less secure and easily crackable than WPA), I would try what has been suggested above. Disable the wireless secuirty and then try and connect the XBOX, you can then take things from there.
