Hi

Looking for a bit of help, got my Firearms licence through a week or so ago and was looking at it today, does anyone have condition 6. (regards land deemed suitable to shoot on.) on there additional conditions. Does this mean I have to get permission to shoot on the Land I own as well as having this licence, they had the details of these on the application of the Firearms Licence which they granted me, :search:

Also been granted .222 & .22 with sound moderators states type= rifle, does this mean I can purchase a centre fire??

Any help would be apprecaited have had a shot gun for years but firearms are a little new to me:p

Thanks

If you want to use your rifle for vermin shoting etc the land must be given autority by the firearms officer of the area the land is on,

its to stop people using firearms on unsuitable ground ie your back garden,

ie.if theres a large field coverd with rabbits foxes etc but surrounded by a housing estate no matter who owns the land it is not fit for use to shoot on

Alfi boy is correct on the land part (though there might be more too it, long time since I had a license!)

Why would you need a centre fire rifle, are you shooting elephants or something :D

deer hunting but after youve done a dsc or some ppl use center fire for foxes :search:

Thanks for your help, so do I need to get authority from my firearms officer for the land I own, surely he would of looked at this before giving me the licence, otherwise I would have a license with no where use the guns. He requested he had the details of it on my application as wanted to know where you would be using the guns.

I understand that if I bought more land or went somewhere else I would need to get this checked. ???

It was a very long time ago so the rules might have changed, but after me and the old man got a license we had an inspection by the local firearms officer. He was very thorough!

What gun did you have, you will have to come up and have a day on the clays with us :)

Have left a message with my firearms officer just seemed strange to give me a silenced treble two to then have to get my land checked and possibility to say I can't use it there and then have no where to use it ??

Shotgun mate, was only for pest control on a farm.

Love shooting, just not killing fluffy little rabbits, no stomach for it! Would love to do some clay shooting though, nice one  Not sure how good a shot I am now, haven't fired anything other than an air rifle for years!

As I understand it, You wouldn't have been granted a licence unless you had suitable land to shoot on or a club to shoot at.

If you told them that your land was where you intended to use it, they must have agreed it was ok. You have to prove you have a use for each firearm you want to own, and have to buy enough ammunition to warrant having it/them.

Cheers for your advice, thats what I thought as when I applied he wanted to know details of the land and the amount of ammunition I wanted to keep. So like you said by granting it, would of thought he was happy with my reasons and the land I have was suitable to shoot the guns he granted me

it helps if you join a shooting club to.

I've got the licence mate, just didn't understand the conditions
