Anyone know anything about this turbo kit?

It would be cheaper to buy a TT engine and fit it once you've got that thing set up correctly. Also, a BPU TT engine will make about the same power, maybe a little more.

IMO it's a TT engine all the way, then tune that. The N/A engine just doesn't cut it.

What happened to the supercharger project (2JZ-GZE)?

I put a Rb26dett into my old 2.0 N/A R33 GTS and I would never do an engine transplant again lol. took ages trying to get things right. I priced up 2JZGTE engines and I'm going to be looking at spending around 2k to get one and someone to fit it. I would do it myself but I've just lost patience completely and working 6 days a week doesnt help lol.

The problem with the supercharger project is that my uncle has just p*ssed off to australia and left me stuck for someone to fabricate brackets and piping. Just a pain in the arse tbh. Would be handier for me just to buy a bolt on job I could do on a saturday or something and just hand it over to a tuner then to be set up. Thats how I'd view it anyways. But by all means criticize away :D

You'll be spending over £2k to get BPU levels of performance out of that turbo kit. Believe. Do it properly and buy a GTE ;) Don't say I didn't warn you!

Is your car an auto or manual?

Manual, I rang a trader and it was working out for everything around £2500 which is around €2700 which is waaay outta my budget.

Baring in mind, I have a walbro pump fitted and I brand new FMIC for a TT sitting at home for it. So i've some of the bits I'd need already

But to get the best out of that turbo kit you'll need injectors, ECU or piggy back and ideally some cams. Add all that up, and factor in the fact that the GE engine has some significant differences to the GTE (oil squirters, cylinder head design etc) and it makes a lot more sense to fit a GTE lump.

Your gearbox is a 5 speed? In which case you'll need to look at an upgrade to that as well if the turbo is going to get any real use. You'll be needing a 6 speed :)

you wont need injecors or cams for 300 bhp . just a piggyback ecu, i did my whole na-t for under 1500 and its makin 336bhp im happy with it value for money wise , as for that kit iv used it , the only prob iv had is the welds on the downpipe flange wer a bit thin and flimsey , but i just beefd themn up with a plate and its fine .

the w58 is good upto around 400bhp depending on the condition of the box after that youl start stripping cogs.

if you are adding power think about changin those terrible j spec front brakes first.

GTE will be a better choice if your after bpu easily and reliably but if you can do the work yourself I dont see why a GTE swap would be necessarily better. You don't need cams, injectors or oil squirters and you can get away with an safc for fuel. Stock injectors are supposedly good for 350hp. The head is supposed to flow better on one side than the gte head and the bottom end is practically identical.

if it were me I'd swap a gte but I just like the nice neat valve cover and cop ignition:)

Tell that to the guy who's box failed at BPU (350bhpish).

depending on the condition of the box , is the key to that sentence. iv heard storys of w 58s running comfortably at 400bhp , and other that grenade at 300 bhp , but a box in good condition from what i have gatherd be good for upto 400 bhp,

Just swap to an r154 froma mkiii, the box is dirt cheap and the bellhousing is £300, I think you can also use a mkiii clutch instead of expensive mkiv clutch kits.

yep thas the best and chapest way around that , obviously the v160 or 161 is the best way to go but its gonna cost the thick end of a grand

Thats exactly what I want. Thats the very same kit you have yourself is it? And another question, I'd get away with just using a Neo instead of a E-manage as you can adjust the iginition timing at the distributor, wouldn't that be enough just to get it mapped with one of those?

Suprastore used to be as dodgy as f**k...no idea if they are still universally sh1t...but buyer beware...

Any stories? Bad kits or just overpriced or what exactly?

yea its the kit i have. you dont need to adjust the timeing if you stay below 10psi. i would rccomend the emanage as you can set a boost cut limiter voltage clamp to prevent the map sensor seeing posotive boost and cutting the fuel.

Ah I get you now, makes sense, but could you use a neo and cheat using a FCD? :D just emanage can be pricey enough to buy and map.

I am speaking to a lad at the moment selling an NA-T converted engine, Idealy I only need the turbo etc theres no need for the engine but I've looked at it and taught into it and I could end up with a headache after all. Heres the engine and when it was in. looking at it I'd need an external waste gate, oil lines, down pipe etc etc extra. I don't think it'll be worth the hassel tbh.

Another question, were would you return the oil to exactly? Like is the a return pipe there on N/A's blanked up or will I have to get one made up?

Isn't it easier to ditch the NA and buy a TT?

(Sorry if its a crap post, but why take all the time and effort when there are plenty out there straight from the factory?)

I'm looking at spending 2.5k Sterling which is around 2800 euro which I don't have. Everyone says BPU power etc etc but I only want around 300bhp at most. Its my daily driver I only want a turbo kit running smallish boost thats gonna cost me 1500 euro to get done.

..ah, ok so it'll cost you £2500 to change to a TT?

Thats fair enough.

If you only wanted around 300bhp then a stock TT would have done, but the extra £1000's not a small sum.... fair play.

Just thought it may be an alternative?

Long term when selling the car on you may reap the benefits - I'm not sure how people will react to the 'converted' N/A?

the oil returne is blanked in the sump just drill it through and tap the two holes that are allready ther either side to bolt the flange to

Perfect, thats what I also needed to know. Is it possible to borrow your brain if I go ahead and do this? :D haha

Yeah its quite a large amount of money, plus I pay €4000 euro a year insurance on the car and also €1300 road tax. Supras are cheap to buy over here but not cheap to run :( I intend to hold onto the car for a very long time as It doesnt stand me big money at all. It would be a lovely engine to put it but something tells me I can make this work on a budget. I'd get 10 times more satisfaction knowing I made the car into a turbo on small ish kinda money. would also take away from the whole "oh its a non turbo supra.. I'd say its slow and heavy" comments most other people say :(
