Wheel Alignment Help Needed Please

Supra786

Recommended Posts

Anyone have a spec sheet for the settings of all four wheels, including toe and camber settings?

Did a search, couldn't find anything.

Need a wheel alignment done asap so if anyone can help out, it would be much appreciated. :)

Also will these settings be alrite for 19" alloy wheels.

Regards,

Abs.

I can post a pic of the before/after settings for my car which got done a few weeks back if you want. I don't think the wheel size makes any difference. Not sure why you would need this, you just take the car to the garage and they do the job don't they?

Yea I did think that, but then Im just being exact as thought there might be optimal factory settings to the alignment, I wasn't told to bring anything along, just wanted to make sure they do the job right and set it correctly.

I see your located in London, where did you take yours? Im kinda desperate! LOL Even tried Kwik Fit!

If you could recommend a place that would be helpful. :)

OK here it is. The top specs are how the car came in, and the bottom are after adjustments. As you can see I got it done in Kew. There are plenty places that can do it, just look on the net. They usually look up the car in their datalog to see what specs it should be and Supra should be there just like any other car. Good luck :)

Thank You Sir! You've been a great help.

One last question, how much did it cost you?

I would try the lance alignment instead of stock. My rear tyres have lasted longer and I found the car to feel a lot more planted when pushing on a bit than with the stock figures.

I've got an NA, so shouldn't make much of a difference. ;)

Just gave them a call, got it booked in tomorow.

Big Thanks again Hogmaw. :D

how would having an na make a difference, your suspension is the same and I'd assume you would still suffer from inner shoulder wear on the rear tyres with the standard alignment numbers.

Got it sorted! Would highly recommend this place for anyone needing a wheel alignment done. Car feels much better.

Great service too.

Salaam, another Abs? :p

Dude, where did you get your alignment done? If your in London I recommend one place only! They are called Elite based out in Dagenham\Redbridge. I believe a few members use them.

If you go their you will understand why I say they are the best...

W.Salam, yea bro another abs, but I was here before you. :p

I just came back from the place hogmaw recommended, he did a great job. Its Motorwise in kew so not far from where I am. Dagenham/ Redbridge sounds a bit further but im sure they're also as good as you say.

But my cars feels much better now, much more planted.

How much did Elite charge you? PM me if you want and where in London you located? :)

Yep decent tracking\alignment does make a big difference.

They charged £50 to do the laser alignment and then £15 a corner to do the toe and camber adjustment (All 3 needed it),

so all in it was £125 inc VAT.

Not cheap, but these guys know what they are doing! You will see they have mainly performances cars in their ranging from Rex's to TVR's!

Located in Docklands, East London...You're self?

Hmmmmmm, might give them a visit next time if I need it. I paid £130 inc VAT again I needed 3 corners to be adjusted both toe and camber and one toe in the 4th corner, all in all it was a good investment.

Im located in West London, Bayswater, often go down Docklands, will keep an eye out for you. ;)

my inners on all 4 tyres wear unbelievably fast!:(

Then you need to get all 4 of your wheels laser aligned...this will make sure the toe and camber on the wheel sit correctly. If this is out by even a little bit will cause uneven wear which will cost you on replacing the tyres and make it dangerous!

If you want to do it properly go to an independant specialist that doesn't need a spec list for reference. As soon as you move away from stock wheel and tyre siszes or suspension, even weight, the stock settings are meaningless.

Chris Wilson, Centre gravity or Wheels in motion are very highly recommended by people who really know their suspension stuff on here.

If you're West London then Wheels in Motion are close.

Personally I think Elite arent anything special other than glorified cowboys based on the work they did on my brother in laws car a year ago.

As for laser alignment and corner adjustment, you should really be paying more than 70-80 for all the adjustment that you need. plenty of places in east london and in catford that I can recommend.

Darryl - you mention wheels in motion / specialist not using the reference list.....this sounds different, how much do these guys charge?

is there any point mentioning lance settings to them, or just leave it for them to recommend the best settings for my car?

I'm horrified at some of the "£125 but they're not cheap" stuff that some people in this thread have had carried out. You've been done, their equipment is bobbins and adjusting anything less than all 4 corners as a whole will be far from a good setup, sorry. "Laser alignment" is smoke & mirrors for those that don't know any better.

Try this, or this for a truely professional setup, experience and most importantly - end result.

Don't take my critisism too harsly. If you don't know, you don't know! With that in mind, if anyone wants me to run another tech talk day, just shout. You'll come out from that knowing FAR more than you ever imagined you could.

If you don't think the results can possibly be worth it, jump in with me and see how my car handles next time I go to a track. it's far more capable than me. Bignum said to me recently "your car handles [on road tyres] like mine does on 888s". Impressive at face value (I think!), but even more so when you consider he's also had his geo done, and his car is stripped of some weight whereas mine is still full-fat. ;)

Ultimately, what matters above everything else you can do to improve a car's handling when it comes to acceleration, braking, cornering, grip, bumps, imprefections in road surfaces, changing direction (i.e. DRIVING!)? Answer: your tyres and how they contact the road under each of those circumstances and also how your car behaves when transitioning between those scenarios.

Nope not taken harshly Steve... sorry I was comparing to what most standard people refer to as tracking & hence some people would normally spend around £50. My car was pretty much all over the place and the tyres were eating very uneven esp on the front. They found the collors (spent incorrectly) were gone, they showed me the problem and told me how they would fix it. After reading through thread I remember to put my new receipt into my Supra folder (its pretty big now :D) and the price was £130 but this was discounted by Lee because my friend who has been using him for years came along (owns a hire company).

Luckily I am running 17's with the standard tyre size so this sort of place might be okay for me (they do individual setups as well), but I would be very interested in your Tech talk days, like you have mentioned if your not told about certain things then you dont know.

They did do a job on all previous cars I have had so this is just my experience talking! Now when going to 1 ton in the Supra its very smooth!

Where as before you was holding on for dear life thinking if the dashboard was going to come off!
