Chris Wilson
Moral quandary. You look out the bedroom window and see a minimum of 4 or 5 rabbits grazing and digging the lawn at almost any time of the day, and dozens at night. They look cute, give endless entertainment to visitors from the towns, but make a real mess. Do you shoot or leave? http://www.chriswilson.tv/rabbits/rabbits.html

Branners
They say that the rabbit population is above the pre-myxomatosis levels. For those too young to know, they introduced a virus that killed rabbits to try to cull numbers. 95% of rabbits in the UK were killed. So I doubt anybody would miss a few rabbits. Chris Wilson
We did have the whole front garden, and part of the woods rabbit proof, but the wire went in over 20 years ago and had deteriorated to the point of uselessness. Re installing is a mega job!

Chris Wilson
Thanks Chris, that looks a lot easier than I thought it would be Oh I know about the smell, that's the biggest thing putting me off doing it If you are really careful, or very good, and don't nick the gut there's hardly any smell at all, but like all grazing animals, the stomach contents can be a bit whiffy if they get out! Being an amateur, and impatient, I usually make a hash of it

JustGav
I love animals in general, however if they are going to be used for feed or food then it isn't a pointless shooting for the sake of it thing I don't think. I'm not pro-hunting unless the prey is eating or put to use otherwise it is just a bloodsport.
jamesmark
I am in the same predicament with my garden but with Frogs (ok not the same but ....). I want to tidy up the garden as the pond area was overgrown and an eyesore. Now they are there I have had to stop draining the pond as I can't bring myself to kill them (yeah I am a big softy). I am usually against hunting however if they are an issue why not make money on them and have shooting events. It is better a quick death than poisning and setting traps to catch them and release them is an endless task.
Ark
They are classified as vermin and a pest - shoot away. Especially as you have pets that will eat the carcasses. We have a similar problem with rats - the missus used to keep a piar of rats as pets, so she doesn't like hurting them, but they have to be controlled or they get everywhere. Carl_S
Blood and rabbit brain across your lawn can make a real mess too. Avoid a certificate 18 lawn, go PG at worst, and certificate U at best. Your guests will thank you, and you will live a long and rabbit nightmare free life.
