Guest pdj
Hello everybody, i need some advice!!! I have a jap import tt with jap sized number plates, which are illegal. I've changed the front no worries, but the back is a problem. When i took the old no plate off there is a big hole in the bumper. Any ideas how i can get round this whilst keeping on the straight & narrow with the law!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers phill
merckx
Get a larger than normal plate made up. It's the size and spacing of the letters which need to be standard and not the yellow background.
paul_h
as long as its an import and it has the square cutout for the plate then jap plates are not illegal as long as the text and font used are to motorbike specs

keron
yeh even the front plates...by law you are allowed to have a plate the same size as the plate holder on the jap sup....tells you on the dvla website somewhere....even the police dont know that so i used to keep a copy in the glovebox! Not quite. Certain imported vehicles may be permitted to display number plates with smaller characters if: The vehicle's construction/design cannot accomodate standard size number plates. No excuses for not having full size plates on the Supra. I had a small one on the front and a double space on the rear which I got pulled over for so I fitted legal plates, you soon get accustomed to the size and you feel less vulnerable when a police car is following.
