Loud noise when accelerating at high-revs

Hey, I currently have a 95 NA import supra and im a bit of a newb with cars at the moment, when I'm accelerating at high rev's (seems to start at over 5-5.5k rpm I get a really loud..what seems like a loud-scraping kind of noise coming from the engine, it's hard to explain, the only modifications on the car are a HKS exhaust system and air filter.

Wasn't sure if this was something to do with the air filter or not..

I will try and record the sound tomorrow at some point and upload, but i'm just wondering if anyone else has had a similar noise, if it's normal or not.

Regards

Probably the second set of intake runners opening up, usually makes it louder and your induction kit will make the sound even more noticeable. Allthough I thought the opened lower than 5.5k.

I don't think the 95 n/a has got a vtec engine ?

remove the alternator drive belt and just check all your bearing pulleys might be one of them playing up alternator/waterpump etc etc

The only time I ever heard a noise that fits your description .... it was the fan coming in to contact with the cooling shroud. (One engine mount was broken and the engine was lifting up one side when accelerating) Not a supra though.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I had a little test today (hard to open it up on the roads I use to work) but it does seems to be from about 5.5k in 1st and 2nd (I will pay closer attention tonight or tomorrow) , it gets really loud when coming over 6k, In 3rd it doesn't do it as much though.. I will try at taking it up slowly and quickly to see if there's any noticeable differences.

I just worry about every noise like that :p but anyhow hopefully I will have a vid up by tomorrow evening and find out it's something not bad..
