Bryan_Jones
I'm having a few issues with my clutch. I've had the Supra about 18 months now and I was told before buying the car that the clutch hadn't long been replaced back to a standard clutch after he got fed up with the comp clutch that was on it. Now after having some work done on the car i was getting a ticking sound that disappeared when I pressed down the clutch pedal. This has since stopped as it was probably just the release bearing getting dry, but the pedal feels sort of gritty when pressed down. There is also a fair bit of slack in pedal towards the top and gear changes in lower gears can be a bit of an art at times. Now my question is do i just go down the line of replacing the clutch? Or is there something that might have been fitted wrong/ can be repaired easily? I've put up with it for too long now and it's time I got it sorted. If I do need the clutch replaced can anyone recommend a clutch for a Jspec 6 speed Twin Turbo? The car has basic upgrades. Any help would be welcome. Terminator
Do you know when the clutch was last bled? Whilst difficult changes could be due to master or slave cylinder faults, which given the symptoms, seems likely. Yoke bushes on the shift mechanism do wear, and due to the complex design, can cause gear engagement issues. When I fitted my manual box I replaced all the bushes as it was obvious that even the slightest play in any of the bushes would cause selector shaft orientation problems, which would cause difficult engagement of gears. Bryan_Jones
I have never personnaly bled the clutch Is it worth bleeding it first, or is it because it's never been bled that it may have caused wear How easy is it to change the bushes? Goes it come as a kit or part of the clutch kit?

Missile
It's really easy to do. So might well be worth at least giving it a bleed to see if it help's. It's simular to bleeding the breaks.
Guest exceed
Hmmm, my car was making that sound and it turned out to be the flywheel needed replacing... Although mines a diesel astra so could be very different..... lol
Bryan_Jones
Ok, well I'll try bleeding the clutch. Got quite a few things to do on the car, so i'll take her off the road and give everything a good :eyebrows:looking over.
