Tricky-Ricky
My daughter had a small prang in her Ka, so i replaced the front cross member and rad, it has since been used for her work run and around town, and showed no sign of problems other than needing the header tank topping right up, presumably due to airlocks out of the system (it seems to have a lot of pipework)until she did a long ish journey. Then she found that the system was down by about 1/2 gallon, so it was toped up and checked on the return journey, and seemed to be OK again. Now its doing it again, so i had another look and it seems to be loosing water from a T joint, presumably because the system is once again being over pressured due to heat. Now the only thing i can spot is that the rad fan does not seem to be coming on, so i will check this, but what i need to know is where is the thermo switch that turns the rad fan on? it would also help if the dam thing had a temp gauge instead of a silly light, which also doesn't seen to work when its too hot! SUPRALOOPY
Rad fan switch is on the rad I believe. Also check the fan with a power probe. I can get info if you need it or copy the ford TIS disc and send it to you?
Tricky-Ricky
Its not on the rad, which is why I'm asking, if you can get any info as to where the switch is, and also the overheat sensor as well it would be most helpful:)

SUPRALOOPY
The switch is under the intake manifold , back of the head , on the drivers side. So I've been told, I have also been told that it may be ecu controlled depending on age.

Homer
As Dave says the fan is ECU controlled on some models, not on others. The fan should be 2 stage, 1 when the temp is up to 93 degrees, the 2nd when the air con is switched on. If you turn that on does the fan start working? Are you sure the fan is working at all?
