hogmaw Posted June 25, 2009 Share Posted June 25, 2009 I had a look at this pdf and I find it difficult to understand how anyone, in any business, can regularly get away with paying £300+ for a hotel room, £200+ for dinner and £100+ for drinks. I thought that was the privilege of holding such a role. Certainly if the rewards weren't there, the quality would suffer. It makes me laugh how people are all too happy to live in an Imperialist system when things are going well, but revolt the second things turn sour. The MPs expenses thing was just the tip of the hypocritical iceberg. No-one said a word when things were going well about either the BBC expenses or MP's for that matter. When things got bad, people started looking for scapegoats to blame because they didn't understand the real issues. These short-sighted lunges are not however aimed at making things better, rather at crucifying those who did something acceptable at the time but unacceptable now. I am sensible with cash at all times regardless of whether I am rich or poor, and as such I'd be interested in these expense claims just as much in the boom times as now. The nature of the world's economy is such that things are worth more or less day by day, hence waste has differing values. EG: say 15 years ago a highly paid business mogul claimed for a ride in a Rolls. He could justify it because it's befitting for him to arrive in style. After all, he's the representative of his company and must be able to show it's going well. Image was VERY important in business in the 90s. Today, that same guy will be ostracized for wasting money, killing pandas and being a generally bad guy. He hasn't changed, public perception has. We have to pay for a tv licence which pays for all they huge luxuries. Why?!?!?!?!? So they can live the high life on our money. Well i say fcuk em, dont pay a penny for tv licence and then what are they going to do? Nothing because they are skint and cant afford. Saying that though, people complaining about BBC people spending money is a bit short sighted in my opinion.
