Want to hire a garage and tools..

I like the idea. My concern would be, what if I unexpectedly need a part that I can't get hold o (needs to be ordered for example)? I would be racking up £10/hour until I could get my car shifted out of their premises. But that aside, it's a good and novel idea.

This is something I have been thinking of setting up on a smaller scale and have had a bit of interest. My Garage build should be starting in the next 4-6 weeks and is 180 square metres floor space with a further 60 square metres on the mez deck. I was thinking one four post ramp to start with and seeing how it goes from there. This would just be a bit of a sideline as I work from home anyway and I wanted the garage for storing our cars anyway so just increased the size a little.

It's a great idea - so sick of having to abort jobs I'm doing on the driveway because it starts raining, or there isn't enough room to pull a breaker bar. Or the crippling muscle aches the next day from hours of crouching down.

Reminds me of that Steven King film with the evil car - he rebuilt that in a similar garage service. What was that film called now? Christine?

The problem i see with this is WHEN someone gets injured or hurt and health and safety gets involved. ie was the person trained to operate lifting equipment etc etc.

working in a workshop myself and health and safety is getting really bad cannot even wipe your arse without someone having to watch you incase you get it wrong :(

A thought I hadn't even considered. Pubilc liability insurance would help but I suspect there woudl be problems with letting people loose on heavy machinery.
