Paul Whiffin
As above, need a block or failing that an engine, I'll be boring the block out so doesn't have to be perfect.
little num
how much you wanting to pay, i have 1 with J+E pistons in.
Paul Whiffin
I only really need the block so wouldn't want the pistons and it needs to be stock bore size ideally. I dont mind buying a complete engine and use the head for spares though.
MarkR
What about the dude that's breaking the NA? That is the same block isn't it? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=189650
MarkR
Upside is that with an NA it won't have been pushed too hard.
Terminator
I think he may want oil ways ready for squirters, so a TT block.

MarkR
I thought some people close up the squirters on the drag cars? (slightly off topic)
adrianstokes
The castings are slightly different, the NA blocks are slightly lighter (must have less material) - though it is true that some of the drag racers in the US prefer to use the NA blocks without the squirters. I believe it increases oil pressure? If an NA block is any good to you Paul I've got a good one here that I can drop off when I collect the other bits? Let me know because I'll be weighing it in at the weekend.

adrianstokes
Thanks but no thanks mate. No problem, thought I'd ask anyway . If I come across anymore GTE lumps that I don't have requirements for I'll let you know ; keeping the ones I currently have.

dude
I think he may want oil ways ready for squirters, so a TT block. Never looked in a NA block but dont the squrters get replaced with blanking plugs???
Chris Wilson
No, the casting is un-drilled and un-machined in the areas of the squirters.
dude
No, the casting is un-drilled and un-machined in the areas of the squirters. Hmm sure ive seen a block that had little blanking plugs installed, wonder what that was for???. Do any of the aftermarket pistons use the oil squirters??? MarkR
Do any of the aftermarket pistons use the oil squirters??? I don't think they do. That's why I'm sticking to stock. If I change anything it'll be the rods.
Chris Wilson
Hmm sure ive seen a block that had little blanking plugs installed, wonder what that was for???. Do any of the aftermarket pistons use the oil squirters??? I so far as any piston will gain additional crown cooling from having the underside jetted with cooler oil, yes. In so far as do any forged pistons use a cooling gallery within the crown, like the stock cast pistons, no. The only forged cooling gallery pistons I've seen are the Tomei ones. I have those in my RB26 engine. Never seen any for the *JZ--GTE engines though.
MarkR
I wrote to Tomei yesterday to see if they had any with the cooling channel in the crown. Here's the response. "Hi Mark, Only our RB26 has the option of selecting the cooling channel pistons design (we have 2 types available for the RB26DETT). The 2JZ is without the cooling channel. Thank you -- Sincerely Allen Lorenzo TOMEI POWERED USA Inc. 13 Orchard Suite 107 Lake Forest CA 92630 USA Tel: +1 949-855-6577 Fax: +1 949-855-6525 http://www.tomeiusa.com [email protected]" So there you have it from Tomei........
