Flushing PAS fluid - tutorial hose clarification

I'd like to flush my PAS fluid with some new Dextron III. I've read the handy tutorial at: http://web.archive.org/web/20041209173121/www.reepa.com/psflush.php but noticed it was for a lexus and not specifically for the Supra.

 

I was just wondering if the 8mm and 16mm diameter hosing is applicable to the Supra also, or do I need alternative diameter hosing to do this job on the Supra?

 

Also, am I right in thinking that you should bleed the system by turning lock to lock (whilst the engine idles) when the wheels are both (a) on the floor and, (b) with the front wheels raised in the air...until there are no signs of any air in the system?

I would add to the 'how to' that if you have access to a syringe or other fluid extraction device! then you can lower the reservoir fluid level such that its below the level of the return pipe. So you can remove the return pipe and attach your hose and bung the pipe in the reservior up without any fluid running out.

 

This will allow you to check the hoses needed and/or botch/adjusted the ones you have to fit

 

The syringe will allow you to remove the excess after the flush again to below the return so you can refit with no mess and just top up to the correct level.

 

If you do this and as the guide says never let the coke bottle empty then you will get no air in the system and so shouldn't need to bleed the system at all............at least thats my understanding.

Also to note is have another person with you filling the coke bottle with fluid, as as soon as you start the engine and get around to the front of the car the bottle will be empty..... it goes through very, very fast.

it's not hard to do, just make sure you have a good seal on the coke bottle/to reservoir.If you have help it will lessen the chance of making a mess!!.IT DOES GO DOWN THE BOTTLE VERY FAST:eek:

tbh it does sound awefully messy, i have never 100% changed mine, all i do is suck out whats in the reservoir then refill using a litre of new, if your doing it for the first time maybe use a couple of litres

TBH it is either that or not messy at all..............taking your timing to seal the temporary pipes and reservoir will see the actual job done in a minute or two...........rushing it and then having a hose pop off or running the reservoir dry and you have creat a major mess or pita
