Reliant scimitar, try and get the non overdrive model (manual) and an SE5a. It has a ford essex 3l V6 so easy to get bits for and has a bit of grunt and also look stunning. I had an SE6a a good few years back and loved it but the SE5a like in the pic is nicer as it has the chrome etc and is slightly smaller. I have one at the moment awaiting restoration.

 

Try Graham Walkers in Chester as they have a mint SE5a in white with leather for under 3k too!

Not convinced that, in 1959, a pushrod 4 cylinder 1500cc two seater Hillman costing about £1000 and capable of 100 mph was a rival for a 3.7 litre DOHC straight 6 grand tourer with 240 bhp, a top speed of 140, and a £4000 price tag, but, errr, OK...... :)

 

And James Bond had one before the Aston! :p
