TonyP
DATSUN 120Y! all time classic for me! Good choice. My very first car was a red 120Y I loved that car. Until I slid on ice into another car and half the bodywork fell out of the bottom of the car in a huge pile of rust.

alaing
GT6 is a nice car I had a triumph spitfire for a few years was very easy to work on! could take the engine out in 10 mins! Sunbeam alpine is another nice car was aimed at the Aston martain type market, It was a foot ballers car back in the day you can pick them up in your budget. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUNBEAM-ALPINE-RED_W0QQitemZ220440960810QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item33534e1f2a&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A7|66%3A2|39%3A1|240%3A1308|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

mathew
a long while back someone posted up a picture of an old celica, was absolutely stuning:cool: where im working at the moment has a unit next door where they do work on old american cars. outside there right now is an old skool vette and this morning had a really old ford pick up (like the bubbly looking ones) which when started up sounded awesome! Spike3.0
Wonder what sort of work would be involved to put a Supra engine in a Old skool Celica... This is going to keep me busy : )
garethr
Sunbeam Alpine is another nice car, was aimed at the Aston Martin type market.Aston Martin? MGB, maybe. Even the Tiger wouldn't be in the same market as an Aston.
alaing
Aston Martin? MGB, maybe. Even the Tiger wouldn't be in the same market as an Aston. At the time it was, Rootes wanted that market BUT obviously people chose the db 4 or 5 if they were really rich. George best had an Alpine. As does my dad . Carl_S
Sure spike. One is more refined and for the wearers of leather gloves and whisky sippers, and the other i feel is more for terminator fans and lovers of pepsi.

Tom
some other options Corolla Datsun Bluebird Z31 300zx Mazda RX3 I love them all
Spike3.0
The 300sx and the RX3 are well worth a look too, Im guessing their even harder to find. I saw a load of the RX3's at Japfest but I've never managed to find one for sale. They look even better in real life, especially with the pillarless windows... As does my dad . Not convinced that, in 1959, a pushrod 4 cylinder 1500cc two seater Hillman costing about £1000 and capable of 100 mph was a rival for a 3.7 litre DOHC straight 6 grand tourer with 240 bhp, a top speed of 140, and a £4000 price tag, but, errr, OK...... kslb
Reliant scimitar, try and get the non overdrive model (manual) and an SE5a. It has a ford essex 3l V6 so easy to get bits for and has a bit of grunt and also look stunning. I had an SE6a a good few years back and loved it but the SE5a like in the pic is nicer as it has the chrome etc and is slightly smaller. I have one at the moment awaiting restoration.
