Gaz6002
OK, so I'm at a bit of a loose end this weekend. A few of us have decided to go to Stone Henge and do the whole pagan summer solstice thing because it sounds fun. They're even advertising it on the gantry signs on the M3: A303 at Stone Henge - delays expected 20-21st JuneAnyone ever been before? What happens? Do I need a special hat or something? caseys
Lots of hippies, lots of traffic. Ideally get there late Saturday night! You watch the sunrise, then go home feeling rather special/tired if you've been drinking. Then watch the British GP. That's about all I remember from doing it years ago And my friend's van breaking down.

They burn a christian, run for the hills Alexjames! On the plus side, it's full of women who worship the ground you walk on. Cosmic. Just like going to Liquid in Basingstoke on a Wednesday night, but without the sticky floors and smell.

SupraStar 3000
I hear they sacrifice virgins - I'd better not go
stevie_b
Can anyone join in (in the Solstice in general, not specifically virginal sacrifice )? I thought the police/ English Heritage restricted access to the stones on the Solstice, or did that stop a few years ago?

I might just build a Stone Henge in my garden though and get pissed instead. The virgin thing can be arranged.

I thought the police/ English Heritage restricted access to the stones on the Solstice, or did that stop a few years ago? Yes anyone can join in. But its pointless going now as its been proved that stonehenge was not built for the summer solstice as what was used to be believed. It doesnt even have anything to do with the sun at all

Al Massey
What's it for then? Powerfull/important people like tribe leaders were buried at stone henge after they were cremated. Stone henge was just the final part of everyones travels. They used to go there to remember the dead then head back to wood henge to party. All you need is a special hat...and a peacock. Was there someone on here earlier who had both of these? They'd put up pictures and everything.
