FireStormNBI
my car is a 93 Supra NA Auto.. the problem is when i start the car cold, it idles at around 1800rpm, while its idling the rpm needle quickly jerks from 1800 to 500 and back.. and while its doing this, the Overdrive lights turn on and off.. last time i started my car the smoke was white like a cloud, and the engine shut off by itself. its like misfire.. sometimes when the car is hot already while im driving, the rpm needle also jerks even when im accelerating, from 3000 to less than 1000 and back.. and sometimes the engine just shuts off.. what could be wrong with my car? pistonbroke
Change spark plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm, air filter. All cheap and easy to do. Once you've done all this, reset your ecu and take the car out for a drive. It may be lumpy while the ECU relearns the values. Once you'ce thouroughly tested it for a good hour. Stop the car and leave it over night to cool. Start agin the next day and see if you have any more issues. If you do, check for error codes by using the paperclip method. These error codes will hagve been generated very recently and will not be old stored codes due to your ecu reset. Report back if you have any codes. Digsy
When thr RPM needle jerks do the engine revs actually change? I.e. is the engine changing revs all the time and the RPM needle is accurate, or are you saying the needle is indicating wrong?
