supraspeed
OK, my mate has a Supra tt bpu running around 380/90 bhp. His mate has a very nice (built from pretty much scratch) R32 GTR with new turbos and most of stage 1 (bpu) and a new R34 Engine conversion, but only currently running 360bhp approx. Basically my mate with the supe is a bit...lets say.... not all that clued up on traction, torque, and the general idea of launching a supe is going to to slower off the line. Just wondered whats the kind of outcome a say a drag race and/or a rolling start between the two? i know skylines are obviously great off the mark but wondered if from a rolling point of view it would overtake the R32? they both wanna go to santa pod but both keep making excuses so just wanted to know really
CarlT67
The Supra will win every time
Carl_S
From my standpoint of knowing next to nothing on this, I would bet my notional 2pence on the GTR, standing or rolling.
wkdtime
Althought the GTR ways less, the RB26 engine has 400cc less than the Supra TT engine, thus less torque than what the supra would produce with matching BHP. Torque = acceleration, I say rolling start the Supra would slowly edge forward up until tripple figures where the Supra would start to leave the GTR convincingly. My 3 pence worth! Homer
Off the mark the GTR will be quicker every time. I've had a play with a few of the local R33 GTR's and they are very quick, the only time you'll start to beat one is once grip is not longer an issue, i.e. above 50/60 mph. From a standing start you'd be into 3 figures before you'd be looking at going past it.
supraspeed
this is going to be an interesting race, if they every manage to get on with it. my mate in the supe just dumps the clutch and holds on normally. he has rltc but still doesnt know how to use the launch mode. i didn't realise that a supe could easily pass a skyline at mid range speed, thought only top end (120+) was the real acceleration difference at speed. Abz
I believe the R32 GTR's were AWD as well? Which peeps say it would cause the car to bog down on a standing start, but then again the Supra might just be spinning tyres at this point. It would definatley be a very good race to see, though dont let the 2.6 and 3.0 displacement cloud your judgement on the race, remember the R35 GTR has a 3.8 V6 and its quicker than a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 which has a 6.5 V12!
