michael parker
Hi, just joined the club, this is my cherry popping post! I bought my 93 tt j-spec about 4 weeks ago through a jap importer in hemel hempstead, they do all the uk conversions etc... I spend a fair bit of time on the motorway and my cruise seems to only work up to 70 mph?? i know you shouldn't be driving over this speed but hey im only human, just wondered if they're limited as standard in japan, and if you can get it removed. Cheers
Bobbeh
You should be able to cruise way over 70. I do
michael parker
It wont let me set the speed to engage the cruise at 70+mph, i.e. press cruise on and set at 90mph, nothing happens! well annoying:-)
Bobbeh
Sounds like its not set up correctly, maybe something they didnt bother looking at or missed during the SVA. You get to speed, turn it on, tap the controller down, and its set.
Fifty
Hi Michael, welcome do a search for cruise m8 theres a lot of interesting stuff, including diagrams for wiring up if it was missed during conversaion; seems to be common.
michael parker
It works fine below 70mph, so bit confused?????
Jake
You need to fit a decent quality speed converter, like the Thor one or do this mod : http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=1995
michael parker
I,ve gotta converter fitted cause it reads in mph and odo goes up in miles, if it's a cheapy one, (which knowing what dealers are like to make a few extra quid) would that limit the cruise to 70 mph, i first thought it was maybe rectricted on the ecu???? Jake
I bet your converter isn't wired to the cruise control though. Just do the mod in the pic I posted above and all will be well.
michael parker
I'll give it a whirl, or try!!!! Cheers.
Vaughany
Had the exact same problem on mine, cheap conversion I'm afraid. Pete Betts (Thor) fitted his speedo conversion and everything works fine now (Active Spoiler, Cruise) Give Thor a bell, believe me cruise control at 70+ is so much better. It probably means your power steering is wrong too - it will think you're going slower than you are and give too much assistance. Get a Thor speed convertor and it will sort it. michael parker
will look into the thor, cheers peeps!!
Soop Dogg
As everyone says, it's the converted speed signal that is mssing at the cruise control ECU. The limit on this is 110kph, so when it gets the converted signal, your new cruise limit should be around 110mph.
