steady_eddie
just finished yet another BHG on the dreaded 7M-GTE and im only running 260bhp .................... so after seing the prices for a mkivTT manual around 93-94 and also getting and insurance quote for one (30quid cheaper than my mkiii at £900.60 fully comp) i am goin to sell my mkiii in a month or so and buy a mkiv at the end of the summer as i think they will be cheaper then ........ does the 2jz-gte have and problems that you should look out for? what about the rest of the car? cant wait now, some really nice cars on this site
Bobbeh
No problems apart from the turbos, which arnt really an issue unless the car has excessive miles or they've been heavily boosted. You're making a good/the right move.
Jake
The MKIV has a few common problems but none of them are ever so common like the MKIII BHG issue. A few MKIV problems off the top of my head: Blown turbos if abused, Crank pulley failure, Cracked radiator tanks. Leaky valve stem seals

Jake
Standard boost is about 0.8bar but they're usually OK up to about 1.2 bar. Obviously running them at anything over stock boost will decrease their life expectancy. Second-hand turbos can be bought quite cheaply (£250-£400) but the labour charge for fitting them would be a lot (I guess it's something like 15-20 hours work but not sure really)

Jake
Hopefully somebody who has done a mkiv turbo swap will tell us how long it actually takes. I know it's a bitch of a job.

A few MKIV problems off the top of my head: Blown turbos if abused, Crank pulley failure, Cracked radiator tanks. Leaky valve stem seals Blown crank oil seal would be another i'd add to this list. All of these are really as a result of abuse or general wear rather than design fault though.
