DodgyRog
In a previous post, I showed my last tank, but it started to leak. So even though it was well over a year old and to be honest a cheapy, we decided to go to where we bought it and see if we could push them to at least offer us a decent discount off a replacement. To our surprise they offered a replace to the value of our original purchase without any argument at all. RESULT;) Well anyway, me being a cheeky git and living up to my tag, I thought I would see if I could get a good deal on the tank I have always wanted, the Rena Aqualife 600. They offered it to us for an extra £300 which was good, but me being me I thought I would push a bit more. So I mentioned that I didn't really need the Rena canister filter it comes with or the heaters, as I could just keep the ones from the original, ( for those that want to know a Fluval FX5 canister, in my opinion one of the best canister filter you can get and 3x Aqua one 300w heaters ). Well they agreed, as they said they would throw away my old set up anyway and they knocked another £150 off:D:nana: So hears the new tank, no fish yet, as it needs to sit for a week or so The water will obviously clear over the next couple of days....................hopefully:blink:
Dave17
Are you going to mature the tank without fish in it, alot more friendly that way? Lovely looking aquarium that one by the way Oh while i'm at it, may i recommend you visit http://www.heritageaquatics.com/ If you need anything at all this place is totally amazing, tropical, marine and cold water. Their site is totally jawdrop and huge, undoubtedly the best retailer in the UK. Website is a bit poor alas.
JustGav
That's a nice tank! Looks way bigger than my 300l, so I'd hazard a guess at 600l? (Doh, just read, Aqualife 600 so yeah 600l) I've got a fluval cartridge myself, and they are simply superb
Flip
Nice, I've just got a new corner tank too, second hand though, and I have to make a lid for it and stuff, so my pics won't be up for a few weeks yet! Nice set-up you have there though, what fishes are you going for?

Lovely looking aquarium that one by the way Yes definately, weed goes in tomorrow, I have a small breading/rearing tank with a couple of small catfish and six 6-8 inch Clown Loach in, but I don't want to keep them in their any longer than necessary. So a week for them to go in proberbly, then some severum and eartheaters

Tricky-Ricky
Nice! is there no Styrofoam under the tank? just bought a fluval FX-5 for my smaller tank, as we have set it up for Malawi cichilds, which are currently in the six foot tank, was going to start keeping earth eaters (geophagus jurupari) again, but i think that now both tanks are going to be Malawi tanks, they are really interesting and colourful fish. Guigsy
PAH! Thats tiny.. Check out my beast i got last week! Gonna be keeping a minature puffer and some shrimp. That is when i work out the temperature. The heater i got raised the temperature to 36 deg! and then its taken it 2 days to come down to 29 (without the heater). When i pulled the heater out it burnt my thumb giving me a rather nasty blister . Im sure they shouldnt be that hot
Nick
Wow, that's a fair size Nice one I've had my new tank & equipment sat in the middle of the front room for nearly a month now. Unfortunately the light stand I bought, which bolts to the back of the cabinet, was supplied the wrong size. After a lot of messing around I've told the company to refund my money and I'm now waiting on a different one. Hopefully I can put it into position next week and start things rolling, before the girlfriend looses all patience.... Will be my first attempt at Marines and 9 months in the planning. Guigsy
My mum had a marine tank a long time ago and sold it. Now she has another which was just a starter and had enough space for 1 goby (called Moby). Now she has one about 6 times as big. All fancy plumbing and different pumps and filters and water treatment stuff and all sorts! Took her ages to get all the bits for it. Then when she set it up one of the valves which stops the water somewhere in the cycle broke so the tank overflowed and spilt water all over the hall floor (laminate) so that had to be ripped up and repaired. Now she has just got to the point where she was fiddleing with the plumbing again and broke it. I dont think there was a leak though! I cant wait to get my little tank up and running. i hate having to wait for the fish! This will be my 3rd tank. I have another tropical and a fancy goldfish (actualy my fiance's) and i love them. They are all small though. Compared to some peoples anyway
Nick
I think I bought a lot of stuff until I look on ultimatereef.com and realise I'm a total amateur Some of the systems on there are crazy, they build extra rooms just for the equipment
martini
I think fish tanks are ace. I love watching fish swim about. If I wasn't away working so much, I would have some. 5 months away = dead fish
Guigsy
you would be surprised. you can get automatic feeders. only problem you would have is water changes. unless you get an automatic system of some kind (if they exist im sure they do) My mum has all her marine stuff plumbed in from her tank to the space below the stairs. all hidden away nice. Matt H
Wow, looks lovely mate and for a good price! Not read the entire thread, but are you going Marine or Fresh Water? Was quite into having a nice tropical fish tank when I was younger but when I moved out it stayed. Seen a few ideas in Pets@home when I’ve gone to get some treats for my GF’s kitty. So tempted to start another one up and that isn’t helping!!

It will be tropical and a couple of the main species going in are pictured on post 6 Nice! is there no Styrofoam under the tank? just bought a fluval FX-5 for my smaller tank, as we have set it up for Malawi cichilds, which are currently in the six foot tank, was going to start keeping earth eaters (geophagus jurupari) again, but i think that now both tanks are going to be Malawi tanks, they are really interesting and colourful fish. The round bits in the first pic are the Stroyfoam for the base support. They don't look up to the job really, but Rena supply a 5 Year guarantee, so I gues it will be fine. I am swaping from Malawi's, just got bored of them and sold them on. Have to say, I'd love that set-up. Can we have some more pics please with the weeds and fish. Looks great! Carl_S
What a legend negotiator you are. Very valuable asset you must be to your company (I hope). I too am in fishy matters, not by choice, as some goldfish were thrust upon me, when I bought my house. They were left in the pond. A couple of them were as big as big bananas. The pump in the pond started to pump water out of it, when I finally found how to turn it on. The fish now seem to be having a whale of a time.
