Hi there and welcome.

Apart from a decent aftermarket exhaust and a decat, I think your upgrade options are pretty limited on an NA. General wisdom on Supras is: If you are a power junkie or keen on upgrading, get a pre-1996 twin turbo.

Hey bloke, welcome aboard...

You are never wasting your time in a Supra, even the N/A.

They can be modded quite well to get more 'power'....

It all depends on what exactly you want from it.

And it boils down to 2 main factors:---

1/ How fast do u want it?

2/ Whats your budget?

Turbo charging is not the holy grail, remember Formula 1 cars are non turbo and are also 3000cc.....

"supra pilot runs for cover from TT guys":twak:

Thanks for your replies chaps

Aftermarket exhaust seems a good place to start, any recommendations on where to go and ideas on price...... could I do anything else to get a bit more power , I'm looking at spending approx £1500 I know I wont get much for this kind of money but anything that gets me away from the lights has to be good..........

Hey, I have an NA too :D

Of course you can do anything to an engine within budgetary constraints. You could make it rev to a gazzilion RPM, and give it an intake and exhaust and valvetrain to makse sure it can breathe. You can also bolt on a fuel system than can take advantage of all that extra air, and an EMS to make sure it all works. Plus a bottom end thats strong enough not to put a leg out of bed but light enough to rev, and a lube and cooling system that will make sure it wont all seize up. Then you could connect it to a transmission and final drive that are geared for the engine RPM and strong enough to take all the extra power.

But I bet the budget to do all that, plus what you could sell your NA for would buy a bl00dy lovely TT! :D

Get a single turbo upgrade. There are plenty of companies who do NA to turbo conversions for the supra as both cars have 95% same engine bits (so I've heard) So strapping a turbo and bits shouldnt be THAT difficult.

It'll prolly cost ya about £5k + tho. but then you could have a 500bhp + monster

But if you didnt want to go that powerful, do as the other peeps recommend, sell it and search for a TT.

Why do you say pre-1996 Darren? I didn't think the VVTi system was implemented 'til '98 or '99 was it?

Personally, I've been looking for the perfect '96 import as it has the cosmetic facelift and is the newest you can go if you want to avoid the dreaded eSVA test.

Sorry. I thought VVTi was part of the '96 facelift.

I'll change my original statement to "a non-VVTi twin turbo".

I didn't buy my Supra N/A for speed, and sorry i didn't buy a real one:( I brought it cos i love the shape, and N/As aren't that slow, more like reasonable power.

Seems like the old classic, i have an XR3i and others on here have an RS Turbo!!:stupid: Didn't realise this was the Mkivsupra(TT) site. .................."i'll get me coat.":) Al.

Apology accepted:p

Seriously tho' ........ IMO the cheapest and best way to more power is to buy a TT in the first place . I also think that the most economical way too....

As you say ,you didn't buy yours for speed, ........ but MrD might have.

Al - Crazy that I've not seen you around, I'm over in West Swindon though thats perhaps why, only other supra I've seen in swindon was a white one about 2 years ago........ perhaps we can get together and go on a supra meet sometime.

Mark -

Thanks for the info , have spoken to various motorsport places today and they all recommend if I want more power I should look towards the tt which I am seriously thinking about in the next few months anyway, think I'll save the cash til then.....:D
