there must be more then what you said for it to be a cat B. you would be best brakeing it if its a cat B because it carnt be put back on the road anyway.

yes but i would rather sell it as a whole and let some one else break it.

the engine starts and drives, but just one bent leg made it a cat b.

Are you sure it's a cat B mark? You normally need a salvage license to buy those back as the shell needs to be destroyed.

 

Having seen the leg and inner wing damage it's no surprise if it is a cat B, they are proper fooked :(

No Cat B is breaking only And will never be allowed on the road again :(

Insurance gave me the buy back right.

Legislation states that category b vehicles must be broken down for parts and the remainder of the vehicle crushed. but by then there will be nothing left, and you will need to get rid of the shell any way.

Nope, just checked RAC site and a couple of others, you can salvage parts from the car but the shell has to be crushed.

i tell you what, that thing could be repaired quite easily, a day on jig with measuring system and some new panels and it be as good as new

 

Having seen the car, beleive me it needs a LOT more than a jig!!

 

Edit to add (and I hope mark doesn't mind): The chassis leg is split open up near the turret, the spot welds have come apart and it's folded up in several areas. The inner wing is creased in several areas and has a very significant crease just infront of the vin plate. The suspension turret has also moved. As it's a CAT B that's kind of a moot point though!

 

The rest of the car is very good and would make a great donor car for a TT conversion or just to break for parts.

Its a shame that, i'm not interested but a ballpark figure might help. Also, with so much interest in parts on here it might entice a couple of the guys here who break the cars down.

 

What sort of condition is the engine and running gear in? Mileage etc? All deciding factors.

Having seen the car, beleive me it needs a LOT more than a jig!!

 

 

Homer your wrong:p. i have had 2 quotes to fix the car fromt the insurance company. and both came in at around 4 kish but the insurance preffered to just pay out.Because they of had to guarantee the repair work for 3 years so they was unable to consider as of the age of the car thats all.

As I said to you before, I wouldn't want to see that car repaired, unless the entire drivers side is replaced, it's a lot more than just being pulled out, the spot welds are all busted.

 

Are you sure about the Cat B though? You're not allowed to sell those even privately unless you have a salvage license. It'd also be illegal for the insurance company to release it to you.

Nope all i have to do is fill out a disclosure form for the insurance company to release the vehicle.And then when i want to get rid of the shell contact a licence person who is authorised to remove and dispose of any waste.And that is what the informed me in writting.

Ah that's good then, I was always told different by a couple of the salvage places. Keep me posted on how you get on, as mentioned, I'm still interested in some parts from it if it doesn't sell here (maybe even the whole car)

 

But anway, the one thing I want to make clear to everyone is that a CAT B cannot be put back on the road, this is a parts car only. A good one too.
