Scott
As long as the engine is sound i think you have got a good deal there mate. I would definitely question the power figures though. You have driven a powerful cosworth, a 520bhp skyline is a totally different animal and would blow your socks off. The fact it hasn't would bring up a few questions in my mind. I wouldn't have a skyline but if i were to chose one, within a reasonable budget, it would be the 32. I think you have done well there! I think you have done well there! i see what your saying but i havnt given it death yet and seemed similar to my old 470 bhp cosworth. i knew it had been tuned straight away as boost comes in late like my cosworth but comes in hard. clincher of the deal though is a close friend of mine is a close friend of the previous owner and car is 100 % genuine. only had the car 18 months and cost £12k ! developed the engine rattle so sold it he was advised bottom end failure. imi
out of the 32, 33, 34 i must admit the 32 is far the best looking nice purchase Personally the 34 is the better looking of the three, but none of them are lookers by any stretch of the imagination. infact, they do look quite horrible in stock trim. Imi I have to disagree, but then thats what makes car ownership so interesting, I think the R32 is fantastic Your engine rattle sounds terminal at your BHP, but if that is not a problem to you then I still think you have a good set up, 2nd hand engines are not hard to find this was mine (735 BHP at 1.8 bar on a T04Z with a JUN 2.7 stroker)

Touched a nerve perchance?? Please notice, a) there was smiley and b) there is a subtle (okay NOT so subtle) reference to fast and furious... (I think it is called humour....) It just so happens a friend of mine has an R32, and he loves it as a daily driver, so ner ner ne ner ner... (got your toys back in the pram yet?) Tricky-Ricky
LOL! this is funny, you did ask what we thought of your prospective purchase, complete with its RR sheet that has a 90% chance of being flattering. You then go on to say you thought it was near standard, and where told that it wouldn't make those figures if it was, which you took exception to. You where warned about the rattle, but you're not bothered about spending another 3K, so possibly a 7K car! If it is the start of a bottom end rattle (does it rattle if you hold it at a certain RMP with no load?) then at that power, you need to prepair for the worst. You're surprised at having the rise taken after all that, and this is a Toyota Supra forum:rolleyes: However i wish you well with your R32, i quite like them, a friend has a 700BHP one:)
JamieP
I like the R32 but i still say fix it up, sell it and buy a Supra:)

Tricky-Ricky
I find it very difficult to diagnose engine noise from video sound, but like i said if you hold the RPM at about 3,000 when stationary does it have a kind of resonant rattle, it won't be very pronounced unless its quite close to failure. But it will be quite apparent hot or cold. We did try and warn you fella. Oh! and the knock sensor will pick up extra or non normal mechanical noise. imi
We know that you bought the car knowing that it had a rattle despite many members on here advising not to. what is it with you guys i have said dont think it is 500 bhp but its not impossible on a tt setup. doesnt come on boost til 4k revs so something isnt standard. ive driven a standard r33 before and didnt come on boost nowhere near as hard. Then after buying it you say: i aint bothered at £4k. can get a 30000 miles motor for £3k then just a remap and away, with 2 bar boost aswell maybe So now why the change in heart and continue with a thread about the rattle. Stick to your word and sort it out if it blows up...... lucky seller for cashing in while he could......some people have all the luck... Dave17
Unless you can get it WAY below the market price, and 2nd hand engines are readily available Absolutely agree, I just can't see this being economical even if he can get a cheap decent engine, especially when the unknown component let's go, taking god knows what else with it...
